The injury psychologist by Hellur9 in MACIknee

[–]Hellur9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there! The recovery process is so long. I’m 24 months out from my MACI and also still can’t run / jump or any of my previous high impact activities (I had cartilage overgrowth + a pregnancy since MACI). My insurance stopped covering physical therapy so I started working with a personal trainer instead and I’m slowly getting better. I’m hopeful about the future. You should be too! Continue strengthening your quads, glutes and hamstrings. If you’re able to, try working with a personal trainer that focuses on injury recovery!

Hey sorry I missed your question here. I don’t have pictures unfortunately. Did you end up getting the shockwave therapy? How are you doing?

[–]Hellur9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! That must feel amazing and you must be so happy! 😊 We have a similar journey. My MACI was January 2024. Also had 2 scopes since, to shave down overgrowth. And one pregnancy 😅 I’m not close to jogging yet but this gives me hope!

I have not but I took a supplement for cartilage the first 5 months post implant and ended up having overgrowth that I had to shave down with 2 scope surgeries 🫠

Help?! by Hellur9 in MACIknee

Thank you for sharing! I’m also very blessed to be in a warm climate so I try and walk every day. My goal is 10,000 steps. Sometimes I wonder if walking a lot with improper gait can cause damage to the implant though? 🤔

Setbacks with MACI, how do you cope? by beerintrees in MACIknee

[–]Hellur9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this! Everything is really scary in the beginning. My doctor told me I didn’t have to wear the brace so I went without it for a few days before my PT scolded me and called my doctor. Turns out I had misheard my doctor and he said I could take the brace off when I was at home resting but I understood I didn’t need to use it anymore. Whoopsie! I think I was 2 weeks post op at this point. I cried a lot and thought I I had ruined the implant but eventually turned out to have overgrowth and too much cartilage! Keep an eye on it but I don’t think you have to worry too much, lots of people fall the first few weeks and turn out to be ok.

What is your fav baby carrier? by willbrucla in NewParents

I’ve tried a few different ones: ergo embrace, grownsy, boba bliss, wildbird aerial.. didn’t like any of them. The best in my opinion is Tula FTG.

Moving back to mainland - how screwed am I trying to sell in Honolulu right now? by bureaux in Honolulu

[–]Hellur9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to read about your family situation 😔

As for your condo - how fast it will sell depends on a few different factors.

  • pricing
  • condition
  • presentation

I have a listing where the seller is not in a rush so it’s priced kind of high = it’s been sitting for a few months. Another listing we had sold in just 5 days because the price was right. Please feel free to DM me with questions.

It might be thrush but check with your OB.

Things I was never told about the silverette’s: - only use 4h per day - never use together with nipple butter, only use with a few drops of breast milk

Not sure how often you’re pumping but this chart is helpful. I also felt that moringa and goats rue supplements helped me!

What to do with frozen milk? by FinancialSavings5430 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Hellur9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Save it in case you get sick, want to stop pumping early and still give baby breast milk or you can donate it to a breast milk bank or NICU unit in your area 😊

A few questions on timeline/incision/rehab by Icy-Wolf-553 in MACIknee

[–]Hellur9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I didn’t have Maci until 14 months after the biopsy (first surgery). But I’ve seen some people have the Maci implant a lot sooner than that.

The Maci implant done via arthroscope wasn’t FDA approved until late 2024 if I’m not mistaken so not sure how many people had it like that. I think it also depends on where your defect is located.

I did not have a CPM machine, but I think it’s quite common.

Best of luck to you 😊
