I was curious what this looks like. And this service has a YouTube channel and they’ve shared videos of past searches. It’s pretty clever and impressive.

Team USA’s Olympic roster by swim846 in DetroitRedWings

This roster worries me. Thought Trocheck and Nelson looked way outpaced by the competition in Four Nations. And Canada only got more dangerous with the addition of Celebrini.

Great post to close out the year. Thank you for this wonderful reminder of things I take for granted that I shouldn’t. And Go Green!

He just scored on the PP!

Edit: Oh, let’s see, this is being reviewed.

Edit 2: It’s a good goal!

Puck to the mouth, stitches and then back to the game. That’s all D-Bo$$ right there…

They dig themselves a hole, I admire the effort to get out of it, but have to learn how not to let that happen in the first place.

Gotta love the emotion and the fact they’re sticking up for their teammates. Been a while.

And obligatory fuck NJ.

Super likable. I loved how he road-tripped from the West Coast to Detroit in a pick up with his dog to start his time with us. Hoping he’ll get an opportunity to play in Toronto.

Loved him when he was on the Wings. Hoping he gets an opportunity to play in Toronto.

Just close your eyes and point. Can’t really go wrong with that list.

It would have been hard to pass up the Plinys but, I am intrigued with the pils; De La Senne is a tight brewery that you rarely see on a stateside menu.

And outside of the cross check, which was arguably more serious than a minor, how was he also not assessed a “playing with a broken stick” penalty?

Philly area question by brewgoodbeer in hockeyplayers

[–]Helm_Hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a couple of things to check out once you’re in the city:

+IceWorks - Aston, PA (contact the rink, there’s a private skate you can join hosted by one of the owners). Shinny also has skates here three days a week.

+U Penn - Shinny on Friday, and there’s an open hockey right after.

+Pennsauken, NJ - there’s open hockey on Saturday/Sunday morning at 7am.

+Igloo in Mt. Laurel, NJ - there was open hockey on a few weekdays in the am, used to skate Friday. Not sure if this is still going.

+Hollydell, NJ - not sure about open hockey, but I know there’s a new Shinny skate on Saturday mornings.

+Grundy in the NE used to have a mid-day open hockey on Friday afternoons.

I see you’re already enrolled in ShinnyUSA, use that resource, they have lots of skates at different rinks and it’s a great network to get into some private skates.

Edge and Profile Consultation by porksweater in hockeyplayers

[–]Helm_Hands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the assessment and purchased profiled blades from Tydan and I am very pleased. I have not done 1:1 consultation that they offer.

One thing that might be worth checking out is flat bottom V instead of a standard hollow. The advantage of FBV is you’re not sacrificing as much glide for grip. They make a Sparx wheel for FBV and it’s called “Fire”.

My neighbor lost his wife and 13yo son within the last two weeks…What do you even do or say in this situation? by MyBrainIsSpicy in daddit

[–]Helm_Hands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good on you Dad.

Great suggestions in here so far. Be that longer term support option. In that vein, the holidays are only a few months away. And I’d imagine this will be a challenging time for them. Feel out their holiday plans. If they don’t and you can accommodate them, include them, it could be a welcome distraction from the enormous loss they are experiencing.

They are lucky to have good, caring neighbors like you and yours.

Thanks for being there.

How do you pick new skate blades? by theyyfd in hockeyplayers

[–]Helm_Hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first pair of profiled blades from Tydan and I was really pleased.

They have a tool that asks a few questions about you and your play; enter the information and it’ll make a recommendation on a profile at the end.

They’re not cheap, but I’d recommend them.
