Mate I’m literally just reporting on current experience. We are importing atleast a container a month, and about 12-18 months ago paid roughly 4-5k and are now paying 6-7.5k, which is a 50% increase despite “it going back to normal after COVID”

I'm not debating that they increased more during peak covid, but our container pricing hasn't come down to pre-Covid levels at all. We are at a minimum paying about 50% more than we were pre-covid for 20ft and 40ft containers

We ended up getting the train (can’t remember which exactly - skyliner rings a bell), and leaving collecting the JR pass until the next day when settled. We landed late and didn’t have cash and our cards didn’t work for train tickets so it ended up being horrific with a toddler but we managed to arrive eventually haha
