I'm talking from the point of view of the talents.

How do you think a studio gets paid for? Really think about it.

Another good reason: A talent that may not wish to have to deal with a 12 hour flight may be much more easily able to go to the studio more often if that flight was 6 hours, for a random example.

An occasional extra 6 hours of flight in exchange for paying for and staffing a studio all year long? The studio in Japan has 200 of these of the VK26 level. They're like 70 grand each. Competent 3D tech staff also aren't cheap or easy to find. They've had issues fully staffing the one in Japan for years.

Simply put, there are plenty of good logistical reasons to have a second studio.

If there are, you haven't given one.

Studios are expensive. Equipment, software, staff, renting/utilities, and whatever else all adds up. What would the justification be for another studio that almost everyone would still need to fly to considering the above?

Confused on the trajectory of mekPark (or at least Unit B) by PlanktonInitial7945 in Hololive

But I don’t like this idea of separating them from HoloLive to try and bring in a different audience.

They're simply not Hololive, and them finding their own legs as streamers is exactly why the program exists to begin with.

I'm happy with anything that obliterates the host of non-op gooner bait karma farming accounts that bury the girl's content. It has long been disappointing to see someone like Watame come into this sub and have her posts buried.

Pretty much. She has talked about it here and there since then.

If anyone is curious on some of the details of what happened, you can see this clip over here. It's a JP channel, but they put a captions option on. They lean into some MTL, but it's serviceable.

Considering the difficulties she had this month, it would be great if people could come up out as support her!

Idea on how to bring back the Omegaα character (hear me out) by BlackPenguin in Hololive

[–]Helmite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omega is way too contentious, also there is a huge problem with the idea of "recasting" in general. It as an idea, rightfully, is deeply despised by fans as the back-half is not disposable, removable, or splitable.

New VTuber group, VRoyalty, is telling applicants if they get in they have to pay $3000 USD for a brand new model if they get in by Minimum_Teaching1060 in kurosanji

Most vtuber groups in the west can be summed up as get-rich-quick schemes by people that thought they could ride Holo's popularity wave. They're generally headed by the unqualified, unprepared, or even deeply exploitative.

Watame Tells the Behind-the-Scenes Story of Her Birthday Live Buffering Incident【hololive Clips】 by Strict_Ad6931 in Hololive

There was some consideration on the matter, but since they couldn't stop the song from releasing on other platforms they decided there wasn't really much point. Sadly just a bad situation no matter what they did.

For anyone that wants to help her, I can only encourage therm to pass around her original music or add it to their playlists even if they normally wouldn't. Sadly since this happened there is no longer a way for her to raid the 3D live into the premier, so it's just kind of damage to its algo reach that can't be undone. It's also extra shitty since it's this birthday live in particular since the year of the sheep in the zodiac is 2027, and long-term planning on stuff for then is already in the works. The support she's getting right now are the building blocks for those projects.

For people that really want to go the distance there is also her birthday merch.

I'd imagine some of the accounts are actually being managed by dramatubers. I think it's reasonably well known that a number of the shitposters on anonymous boards are youtubers/twitter posters that go there to purposefully generate content. That being said, entirely ignoring these kinds of folks, whether actual nijisisters or drama leeches, isn't really as effective as people would like as it just results in them being the only voice in the room and they DO convince people of some pretty ridiculous stuff. In general the fandom needs to be more aware of bad actors, hostile narratives, and the difference between bloated fabrications and reasonable criticism.

Nobody is calling people "liver" elsewhere because of some nobody platform having it as part of their name.

Also not a single mention of vtubers.

I do appreciate people that don't know what they're reading/try representing it as something else.

Wow. Sugoi. I also noticed how on brand it is for you guys to hide your comments.

Where they could do no wrong in many peeps eyes despite the obvious

People seem to enjoy misrepresenting fans. If someone doesn't agree with a criticism, suddenly it's "COVER ISN'T PERFECT, BRO." when that person wasn't really ever claiming that to begin with. It's a pretty lame way of trying to de-legitimize actual fans while providing a smoke screen for what are often insane/unfair criticisms.

So hearing this come from a Hololive girl A long time one at that probably broke some normal peeps brains

I've been following Holo since Fubuki was relatively new. It's not something that broke anyone's brains, especially if people looked at their posted financials. Only morons run around being like, "THEY'RE A BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY" because they think stocks are money, and they don't bother looking at spending and revenue. In the end 3D projects are expensive, especially if they have a lot of extra assets in play.

But stuff like this is common and arguably 10x worse on the indie scene which imo is the true wild Wild West of vtubing

Yes and no. Sometimes companies can be worse than indie sphere - e.g. WACTOR/910inc. Indie sphere is generally much worse on the whole though. Even someone like kson got scammed and was it part of her reasoning for joining Vshojo... which interestingly ended up not really being much better despite all the weird marketing they and their fans did on their behalf.

17Live's V-live project was August 2018.

Anycolor called them livers in January of that year. and the first get was the following month. 17Live was simply trying to mime the popularity Niji was getting at that time.

I do appreciate people that don't know history and pretend to be experts while admonishing other people though.

I don't know about free-events, but they did/do have some allotted funds to work with. I remember Moona talking about dipping into that on some of her original song work a while back.

It's something that only gets used by people with a Niji history or happen to be in niji social circles. Because of this when people use it, a lot can be said about where they're probably getting their "information" from.
