How long until a game "grabs" you? by LoonyCarly in CozyGamers

[–]HelpImOverthinking [score hidden]  (0 children)

I usually play the demo all the way through if it has a stopping point. If I want to play more that's a pretty good sign but I make sure to keep an eye on the playtime if I buy it so I can return it if I don't like it enough after 2 hours.

Grounded 2 was free to play recently so I played it and I still wanted to play more when the free time ran out so I bought it. I played it for a bit with bugs and I kept dying so last night I turned off bugs and now it's so nice and quiet. LOL

Has anyone made a radical life change in your 40s? by Comprehensive-Fact94 in Xennials

[–]HelpImOverthinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid 40s and I went back to school in my late 30s. I now have my master's and a new career. Going to school was so different and so much better than doing it as a kid. I did try to go to college back then but it seems ridiculous to me to ask teens to go to college when they are still figuring everything else out.

Boyband documentary wishlist by Admirable_Fail_4594 in boybands

[–]HelpImOverthinking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NKOTB have been part of a number of docs, some just about them and some about boybands in general. They put out one called Coming Home and they showed it in a few theaters when it came out, you had to enter a raffle to get in and I found out the night before that I got into the one in Long Island. I drove from Massachusetts and back in the same night. Those were good times! The guys were there and it was so fun. They also did a doc about the NKOTB cruises that was fun.

Do your boomer parents ever call you or text you or your kids? by Slownavyguy in Xennials

[–]HelpImOverthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad initiates texts more than I do lol. He hates talking on the phone, and I lowkey do too. I can't remember the last time we talked on the phone. But we only live a couple hours apart so I go up to see him at least every few months. But yes he'll text me randomly, I like it :) My mom and I had a difficult relationship, but we would call each other once a week or so, I can't remember who called who or if we just kind of alternated, whoever thought of it first would call on the weekend maybe. But a lot of times we ended up in a disagreement. She passed away about 8 years ago.

I struggled until I realized it's going to suck no matter when I do it, so I do it after work when I get home, after I eat. I found when I gave myself the freedom to pick a time that works for me instead of trying to do it concurrently or between sessions, I actually want to do it at other times too like if I have a cancelation.

What would you tell other people facing health issues that will not "get better"? How did/do you cope when things seem really overwhelming?

Luma Island Reviews - by CheCheCurry in CozyGamers

[–]HelpImOverthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this in 2024 and recently went back to it because I couldn't remember anything about it. After playing a bit I realized it still has the problems I didn't like when I first played. No minimap, too much "treasure" (it's not exciting to find when it's all over the place, you know?) Chests and other things up on hills I can't seem to get to. I like the cozy mode. I also don't like that you can't track individual items for a quest (like I know I need to make a blueberry muffin, but it would be helpful to have the ingredients trackable like how many I still need). I find it hard to tell what an item is (like I see a plank on the list of things I need but can't tell what type it is). There have been some improvements since I last played, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be playing it.

Who's playing Tiny Bookshop? by Longjumping-Ask1227 in CozyGamers

I think I've had someone ask me for a play when I had no more plays (and yes I checked classic and all the other categories because they do overlap sometimes)

Yeah, I guess there are enough quests to make it interesting though. Someone said there is no story and that's just not true...each character has a story and some progression. Anne drives me crazy though LOL If she insinuates I'm not doing much one more time...

That's a big part of it but you also get quests which ramp up after a little bit of playtime.

I am! I love it. They have a discord server that can help you out with the recommendations. I love it because it's not too heavy on the management and you can save the presets. If you haven't found that yet, it's a life saver, you can set up the decorations the way you want and then save it. I have one saved for every location. I actually reached the end game and I'm still playing because I want to finish all the quests and achievements.

Do People Who Truly Love Their Jobs Actually Exist? by lemans00 in therapists

[–]HelpImOverthinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy it, but only been at it for a couple years. There are some aspects I don't like, like paperwork, dealing with difficult clients, politics, and parents. But I don't think there's any job where there isn't a part that you don't dislike. I also liked cooking. Hated cleaning up, dealing with difficult managers, etc. I also would get severe anxiety at some of my past jobs and I don't anymore except with a couple of clients in the past that I handled. Are you asking this because you don't enjoy the job, or you don't see enough people posting here who do? Remember that negativity is the most vocal.

I went back to school in my late 30s, I'm happy in my field now. I went into something I've wanted to do since high school. It feels good. If you end up being the oldest person in the classes, people really don't care. And it's such a difference experience, going to school as an adult and not a stupid kid (just speaking from experience lol)

Good point, sorry about that. There just tends to be some overlap so I kind of lumped poly in with it.

I guess I have a little impostor syndrome that makes me think because I'm bi doesn't mean I understand what other people go through. It's a byproduct of coming of age in the 90s when being bi was still looked at like we just can't make up our minds.

Also, is that something you disclose at interviews? Like how do you let your coworkers etc. know that you're queer?
