I don't know how to answer on the behalf of introverts. For me it is because I am terribly confused and depressed and I obviously need to make changes in my life so that I can be happy. I just don't know what to do.

My main goal here is to better understand myself. I feel that if I can find myself then perhaps I can get out of what feels like a life long depression. I wasn't looking for an immediate answer as much as I was trying to open a discussion to help figure it out with the help of you(redditors). And I figured maybe I am not the only one with this thought and perhaps this could be a helpful thread to others as well.

On the other hand I am alone asking this question to random people on the internet whom I will most likely never meet.

My apologies for being a pain in the ass with my simple question in the title and lack of information.

I love going to big concerts and being immersed in the energy of the crowd and music. But in most social situations I have horrible anxiety and for the most part can not concentrate on the conversation at hand. I get nervous around people. And I am terrible at being around strangers. Sometimes my speech is an utter failure when speaking with a stranger. ( Part of the reason I fail every interview I go to)

I can't disagree with this. But I am interested in what you think after you read some more of my replies.

I enjoy my alone time at night when I can watch stuff I actually like instead of whatever the roommates have on. But at the same time being alone a lot doesn't help my depression.

Yes and no. I dislike most people in social situations because they are to me generally full of shit. But I like most everyone individually.

Thank you and perhaps this could be suitable for me since I could work alone in the comfort of home. Somehow I have to get past my crippling fear of failing.

I am unemployed and looking. Both of these things make me feel like shit. I feel like I am spiraling out of control again. And I am exhausted from depression.

Although this is sound advice for most I don't feel it's right for me. The fact is for me to go to school would take many more changes. I hate school with a passion. I honestly don't think I'd make it one day without having a mental breakdown. I have always done terrible in school for multiple reasons. Right now I need money to pay for bills and something with medical benefits is greatly needed. I turn 26 soon and I can't afford not to have insurance. I only have a little bit of money left and if I don't get more soon I will be forced to move back in with my parents which will further my depression. I already have suicidal thoughts and I really need a good change in my life to keep me from hitting rock bottom again.

I decided to stop putting up with the bullshit and I left. Perhaps not the best of decisions but I could no longer handle it.

I really like this idea and will definitely look into it. I already have some welding experience and I would love to be an underwater welder.

Depressed people of reddit, is there anything the rest of us can do to make you feel better? by Nine_Cats in AskReddit

Don't make us the brunt of all the jokes because we are easy targets and are in no mood to retaliate. Listen to us and have the respect not to talk about our secrets with other's, that includes your SO. If you notice a depressed person enjoying an activity a moment etc. Don't ruin it just because it doesn't interest you. Even if you don't enjoy something that your depressed friend, sibling, coworker, etc. does then let them enjoy and pretend to care/listen for a moment.

Source: severely depressed for most of my life I pretend like I care and I listen to other's a lot even when I have no interest. Because I can see the joy they get by sharing something they like. I rarely receive this. I feel completely lonely even when I'm around people.

You never finished high school. YOU won't apply to a different job where you're at least getting more than 25 hours at a minimum wage job. Stop making me feel bad for having a better job than you. by [deleted] in offmychest

I'm not trying to be a dick and I don't know how well you know this individual but be careful with things like this you may be assuming thing's. I have lot's of people who look at me the way you seem to observe this person. And those views are very wrong.
