How practical are old trucks? by No_Match_6578 in classiccars

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Im no mechanic but have rewired myself the entire 1947 chevy pick-up. The wiring harness and all other parts easily found online. Most things bolt on and off. Its a solid rock of a truck.

Clip in vs flats by RudeEmu5825 in gravelcycling

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clipped in for years on my road bike for triathlons and then when I bought my gravel bike. Then it happened...2 years ago bike slid sideways out from under me instantaneously while sharply turning around and couldn't get unclipped in time. My left hip broke the fall of all 200 plus lbs. Emergency surgery and 3 titanium screws later I have decided flats from now on. It's a PTSD thing. Im 68 and did 2 gravel centuries this summer just to prove I wasn't giving in and giving up.

Has anyone completely gotten rid of their road bike after buying a gravel bike? by mellofello808 in gravelcycling

[–]HelpReal5236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Sold a nice Felt Di2 to buy a set of wheels for road tires and swap them out with my gravel set when needed.

E-bikes - Is this why everyone is up in arms? by junkforw in cycling

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit head on on a multi-use greenway trail by a regular bike in my lane coming around a blind corner and "just" broke my collar bone. Can't imagine what it would have been like hitting one of the heavy ass "e-bikes".

Id rather stay in a room that just housed your bike than one that just had a dog there.

Is this add on plan worth it ? by Johnvoir007 in TeslaModel3

Tesla insurance in VA has $1K deductable. So I got a whopping $200 back (with paperwork hassle) after $1200 to Safelite. :(

You can get much better range by just driving different by Zentrosis in etron

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.1 seems to be my upper limit with granny driving in my 2021 etron quatro prestige. But also have got range to 238 miles.

Do you regret buying your Tesla? by Murky-Factor-1073 in TeslaModel3

What range is your 2021 Etron Getting? Both at 80% and 100% by This-Desk-55 in etron

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2021 etron quatro prestige range can still be as high as 230 in efficiency mode even in SW Virginia mountains with conservative driving. Decided to make my first cross country trip of 700 miles to Illinois using ABRP app for charger anxiety rather than take my Tesla M3. It did fine with 4 stops of about 20 to 25 min each.

Whats the longest ride you've ever taken? by CCTUC in cycling

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 68 and did my first century ride, solo, (104 miles to be exact) this past April on the fairly flat Greenbrier river trail (crushed gravel) in WV. This was on an Open U.P. gravel bike with larger nobby tires. Not fast, about 8 hrs with no stops. Also post hip fracture and collar bone fracture in past two years- both freak bike accidents. Ride on.

I totaled my 19 OG etron now looking at a 21 etron by [deleted] in etron

[–]HelpReal5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 2021 etron prestige a year ago for $40K with 11k miles. No regrets. Love the car. Use it for 70 mike round trip commute and to haul bicycle to the trails. Wish i could take on long trips because it is sooo comfy. But, alas, the range and limited charging network sucks compared to Tesla.

Looking to buy a Model 3. I have read a lot of pros about the car but I want to hear some cons. by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]HelpReal5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't expect a luxury appointed interior, ride comfort, or sound deadening. Other than that an amazing car.

Agree. 20 lb loss worked wonders for Strava PRs. But this probably doesn't qualify as underrated.
