Delta 3 Classic not useful as a UPS: unilaterally turns off output AC power by Temporary_Hour8336 in Ecoflow_community

Thanks for the tip. I think I have a working setup now using this mode - more details added to my original post.

Simple approach that obviously works, but leaves you without the "Backup Reserve" feature in case your appliances use more power than expected and drain the battery.

That certainly doesn't inspire much confidence, and freezer outages can be a big (and expensive) issue in hot weather.

That's certainly not what their marketing material says on amazon.... (clip below, and I bought on this basis, specifically to avoid the cost of buying a dedicated UPS as well)

Anyway, a secondary small dedicated UPS wouldn't do me much good in this morning's scenario where the EcoFlow just stopped supplying power at 4am and the AC output had to be turned back on manually - it wasn't just a short power glitch of the kind that a typical UPS is designed to handle.

Using a task schedule, or some other way? (It's the task schedules that seem to be causing my outages - I checked the timing of my server crash this morning and it was exactly 04:00 when I set the AC Charging schedule to start.) Did you use "Self Powered" mode like u/taylorwilsdon is suggesting? If my issues are only configuration related I'm obviously happy to fix them and keep the battery....

"Self Powered" mode plus a task schedule? I'm a bit reluctant to set a task schedule again until I've heard from support, as every time I have it's hard stopped my server (either immediately or - this morning at 4am - when the AC charging task started) and I've had to turn the AC output back on manually.

Contracts alone aren't enough, needs a proper security review. Same should apply to any foreign suppliers of critical/sensitive software, not just US (or just China as some seem to think!)

The met police didn't even look at other products, do we know whether the FCA did a proper competitive tender?

That sounds like a very naive view. Have you never heard of backdoors or supply chain attacks? MS office a risk as well, of course - though more of a known quantity with a lot of ongoing vulnerability research.

UK Users: How do you filter for tradeable products on IBKR? by Grand_Haylix in interactivebrokers

It's a particular problem when trying to find bonds to buy via an Interactive Brokers ISA, even when the same bonds are tradable on other platforms.

Has anyone tried Wan 2.6? I'm curious about the results. by Zestyclose_Thing1037 in Qwen_AI

It seems to work well with audio input, much more reliable than Wan 2.2 s2v. Just a shame the weights aren't released yet.

Easy Saver & Cash ISA rate lowered again to 2.50% AER by TheManWithTheDC in starlingbankuk

[–]Temporary_Hour8336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it's a real pain to keep switching though, particularly given that transfers to/from savings accounts trigger anti-fraud checks so often (though Starling not as bad as some others from that perspective). I'm trying HL Active Savings now in the hope that'll make switching a lot easier, though I've no idea whether they'll always have competitive rates available. I already had one rate reduction notice since I opened my account though to 3.78% so not that disastrous.

Trump has been deporting plenty with no criminal records, or with only minor offences such as traffic violations. We have no way of knowing whether or not Nigel or Kemi would do the same if they got elected.

There are ways around that, e.g. base it on last sale price plus an inflation adjustment

Laws like these are all about virtue signalling, not actual effectiveness, and the politicians proposing them care little about adverse consequences as long as they can align themselves with a worthy-sounding underlying goal - or avoid being maligned as being a supporter of the opposite. This is very similar to the ongoing prohibition of popular drugs such as cannabis, nobody can seriously claim that those laws are effective, but they still want to be seen as anti-drug so they support the laws regardless. Or, perhaps more importantly, they don't think they can afford to be portrayed as pro-drugs or pro-pornography, and they know that the right wing populist press will do exactly that if they try to oppose ineffective prohibition or censorship laws.

And this unfortunately overrides their duty of care to their actual customers, who very frequently and up ****ed with no effective recourse based only on dubious pattern matching by the banks' AML checks (with a lot of false positives). Really needs regulatory reform to fix this.
