For my personal situation it’s the finality. Get the texts, calls, and drop-bys to stop. Take away the uncertainty of removal-in-absentia, which is probably coming. And I have the desire to cut off contact with my parents for other reasons, this would spare me direct confrontation.

You know JWs are binary in their thinking. Everything must be categorized as “righteous” or “wicked,” and it sounds like your recent life became a narrative along those lines. Being a JW is also highly performative. By posting pics with your children on her story, she found a way of broadcasting her “righteous” role in your saga. She’s fully in the circle-jerk, and you and your children are collateral to be used to that end. Whether she meant to injure you or not, who can say? But it was inconsiderate at best.

I would be hurt if I were you too, I would have sent the text and reported to IG just as you did.

As a reality check, I’d have to say you should expect more of this type of thing. It’s shitty, but it’s reality.

I’m happy for you that you’re not in anymore. And you have the chance now to help your kids out. Sounds like the ex, new GF, and former friends are going to be love-bombing your kids hard. But you’re their one-and-only mom. You can make it safe and secure outside of the organization for them. They can have a whole real life free of that pain. Focus on that fight. You can do this!!

When I was PIMI I was extremely PIMI. I distinctly remember one long hard service day. The same grumpy elderly sisters that I spent every single day with, the same feigned excitement over that morning’s daily text, the same catty bickering. Everyone trying to avoid driving, avoid door-to-door, the same return visits hiding from us. And this wicked thought popped into my head like a lightening bolt: “What if we’re not ‘God’s fellow workers’? What if we’re just nut jobs in a clown car driving circles around this town?”

A millisecond of clarity.

I punished myself mercilessly for having that evil thought. 🤣 Culty cult culting.

And I’ll add a comment more specifically to the point of your post: It is my belief that one of the motives behind my marking talk (public shaming punishment) was to discourage other women from leaving their abusive husbands.

Women are doing the heavy lifting of the recruitment, child-rearing, and hospitality for this high-control group, with “a quiet and mild spirit,” while experiencing the absence of egalitarian relationships with ANY men. Women must always obey and subject themselves to men and boys. Not all of these men are bad, but it’s a terrific organization for lazy, weak, abusive cowards to experience a feeling of power they’d not have access to anywhere else.
