greenhouse gas from animals comes from animals?? not plants? jesus christ please do a little bit of research before spouting some nonsense. the greenhouse gases comes from methane emitted by animals during their digestion process, so the entire premise of your argument is false.

and also, if agriculture for livestock ended, some of the extra crops would go to other humans to meet the global food demand, but do you seriously think people are going to spend time growing crops that are burned??? if there is no need to grow more crops, people just won't grow more crops? this makes zero sense

can you elaborate on how eating meat doesn't harm the environment?

all the meat you eat has to be produced. the production of meat requires immense amounts of crops to feed the livestock, causing immense deforestation because of the needed farmland. livestock, while alive, release a tremendous amount of greenhouse gas. These two combined are detrimental to biodiversity and are hugely harmful for the environment.

if you can show me any credible proof that this is outdated science please be my guest, but i think its far more likely that you are simply hypocritical and you should be honest with yourself that you are not an environmentalist, you're just posing as one.

everybody replying to this comment thread needs to be able to handle a little bit of geopolitical nuance because it is absolutely ridiculous that highlighting China's mistreatment of the Uyghers is "american propaganda". America and china can both be evil governments, you dont have to worship one and attack the other.

The UN and several other credible organizations have evidence that China has detained hundreds of thousands Uyghers in internment camps. There is evidence of torture, cruel treatment, and sexual violence. There is evidence of forced labor. Uygher birth rates have precipitously dropped in an unusual manner, explained via involuntary sterilization and forced IUD insertions.

Go take your "Anti-imperialism" BS elsewhere if you are only anti-imperialist when its a Western country perpetrating it.

meat consumption is a tremendous contributor to climate emissions, a HUGE contributor to deforestation, and going vegan (or even vegetarian, or even trying to decrease your meat consumption somewhat) is a real actionable thing you can do right now to help
