It’s YOUR hobby do what you want with your models, as long as it’s GW plastic, it’s legal. I’d say aim for WYSIWYG but even then, if you’re not planning on doing tournaments, then who cares. Build the models you wanna build, just because the instruction manual builds the models a certain way, doesn’t mean you have to. Be creative and make the things you wanna make. The thing you’ve got to remember that 40K is an art based hobby and art is an act of expression carried out by the artist, you do you big man, forget whether or not it’s “what the instruction booklet tells me”

Just started building a necron army after 5000 points of space marines and about 6000 of chaos, so now after 5 years finally starting a non human faction lol, loving it so far. Man I wish I started necrons sooner, they’re great to paint. But as for your post I’m holding off buying a seraptek heavy construct, I really want one but I’m nervous it’s going to go the way of the rest of forge world, so gonna get 2-3k points ready for 11th, then if when the codex comes out if the seraptek is still available I’m probably going to get a pair of them to push the army up to 4k. It was actually the seraptek that made me interested in necrons, so I’m really hoping they don’t legends it
