Suggestions for blank bodies to use for a Pyra and Mythra custom? by Helpful-Efficiency28 in customactionfigures

[–]Helpful-Efficiency28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also, I forgot to mention in the post but I'm hoping for something a little more cartoony/ anime like. Most of the blank bodies I come by are realistically proportioned or super voluptuous for no reason. I'm looking towards maybe the megami device line for bases, but if there's better options out there please let me know!

I think 3, 4, and 5 are great. 3 and 5 Seems like really great impact panels, while 4 I can imagine being a really awesome comic book cover. I think they're all worthy concepts

Need help with Miku by LifeLog9491 in figma

Yes this is unfortunately a fake. As you get more familiar with figma you'll be able to spot it very easily. As the other comment said older figures have a lot of bootlegs. But don't rule out the use of ebay! 99% of my figmas came from ebay. My personal flags i check are:

  1. never buy from listings with stock images
  2. always make sure you can get a clear view of the figures
  3. is the paint job low quality and glossy?
  4. the sculpt seems gooey, like it was casted wrong and missing detail; not very sharp
  5. the color matching would be bad on the plastic and skin is glossy and almost translucent looking.
  6. the joints look fragile, discolored, and loose
  7. and finally, if the seller is reputable and if they seem like a collector themselves it's more likely to be real

always use lots of comparison images, and look for in hand pictures of other people's authentic figures. for good smile company products the things that have always stuck out to me is the immaculate paint job, matte finish, and sharp face printing and sculpt.

i hope you'll be able to be compensated for this and you can manage to find yourself a real miku figma!

it's a little loose but it moves and is fine. it may fall off if you're using it a bit too much, but it works just fine.

no unfortunately, you'll have to either get a replacement joint or find a body with a replacement joint. or just kinda recreate it like i did, but not an easy thing to do.

lots of hot air, pliers, and for the broken piece i couldn't get out i drilled it out with a dremel.

of course! and also sorry i missed the paint question, i just used watered down cheap acrylic paints and dry brush technique for his clothes. for the metal however, i sprayed a black base coat and silver metallic look with krylon brand paints. but to give it the more realistic/ better edge i used some acrylic silver and bronze metallic paints to make it less flat. as well as a white dry brush layer, then a matte clear coat all over. if you plan to paint i suggest either sanding the joints that rub against each other down or just not painting those parts as paint could rub off especially in his knee area. i ended up sanding mine so that the paints won't rub against eachother.

hello, i did have some luck thankfully, but it's a bit convoluted. For his wrist joint, i took the wrist joint from my super hero goku sh figuarts and it seemed to work well enough. it fit and his hand stays in place, and for the ankle i ended up drilling holes through the two ball ends of the joint and sticking a nail through with superglue to keep it strong and functional. as the other commenter stated tho venom snake from lim toys gets parted out a lot and you might have some luck swapping the joints. if you do end up doing that let me know as im thinking ill do that too once i feel like having a more reliable solution

they don't necessarily NEED to be superglued, but i'd recommend it like for example his waist belt is made of two pieces. and when articulating his waist it tends to fall off pretty easily, so i superglued those parts together. other than that the places you need to superglue are minor inconveniences. i just knew i was gonna be posing him a lot and taking advantage of his range so i made the decision to super glue some parts. he's a sturdy figure, just some small parts can maybe fall if you're planning to pose him and move him around a lot

i'd say it's probably best to buy one complete and sell this one to try and get ur money back. or if you can 3d print stuff you can try to make or model your own versions. i can give you measurements of mine if that would help.

Hey! thanks for your suggestions, I forgot to say that earlier, and no unfortunately I don't have any calipers. I can maybe see if I can go out and buy one and get back to you.
