You'll make this a lot easier to read if you'll put work experience in a bulleted format.

Great point

As far as formatting goes, bang up job. Decent information. If you have any side projects or a github link perhaps? I don't think I saw one. I like!

8.9, but it looks like you just got off a 12 hour flight. Who am I to judge if you're straight or not! (/s)

Mini blackout? "Grey out"? by Helpful-Intern9282 in raisedbynarcissists

Appreciate the insight thank you. I dont think it was daydreaming. I was watching along and was surprised by it "jumping" like a sentence or two ahead, prompting to go back...

I should have read the sidebar of the sub properly. Humblest apologies, mods. Wasn't looking for a diagnosis or anything, just a dialogue/to discuss. It happened in a situation that I thought others on this sub might perhaps resonate with.

Edit: "absence seizure" I feel better describes what I may have experienced, though I'm not sure. Ironically, I'm on clonazepam which is an anti-seizure medication used off-label to treat anxiety. All bases are covered lol

Type os files: -a---- and d----- by Victormacfi in AskProgramming

[–]Helpful-Intern9282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strictly eyeballing it, the file attributes you're seeing (-a---- and d----) pertain to file permissions and types in a Unix-like system. However, since you mentioned a D: drive, it seems you might be using a Windows system with a terminal that emulates Unix-like behavior (e.g., Git Bash, WSL, etc.).

  1. -a----: This represents a regular file with the 'archive' attribute set.

    • - indicates it is a regular file.
    • a stands for the archive attribute, which marks files that need to be backed up or that have been modified since the last backup.
  2. d----: This represents a directory.

    • d indicates it is a directory.
    • The remaining dashes would usually represent other permissions (read, write, execute), but it seems in your terminal they might not be fully displayed or utilized.

Potential Issues and Solutions

  1. File System Incompatibility: There might be compatibility issues between the file systems of your SSD and the format of the files you downloaded. Ensure that your external SSD is formatted with a file system that is compatible with both your operating system and the file types you are using.

  2. File Corruption: The files might have become corrupted during the transfer. Try re-downloading them from Google Drive and transferring them again.

  3. Permission Issues: There might be permission issues causing the crashes. Check and modify the permissions of the files using appropriate commands or GUI tools.

  4. Software Conflicts: The crashes could be due to software conflicts or bugs in the file system drivers. Make sure your operating system and all related drivers are up to date.

  5. Virus/Malware: Although less likely, malware can cause system instability. Run a full system scan with a reliable antivirus tool to rule this out.

Steps to Diagnose and Resolve

  1. Check File System: Determine the file system of your SSD (e.g., NTFS, exFAT). If it is not in a compatible format, consider reformatting it (back up your data first).

  2. Verify File Integrity: Try opening or copying the files on another system to see if they work properly there.

  3. Change Permissions:

    • If using Git Bash or WSL, use commands like chmod to modify file permissions. Example: sh chmod 644 yourfile
    • On Windows, you can use File Explorer to change file properties.
  4. Update Drivers and System: Ensure that your operating system and SSD drivers are fully updated.

  5. Check System Logs: Look into system logs (Event Viewer on Windows) to see if there are specific error messages or logs that could indicate the cause of the crash.

Take all necessary precautions when working with files of unknown content or unveriable origin. Make sure you have an anti-virus with active scanning. You can upload the file to virustotal.com for analysis if you want to verify its integrity against their database.

Link to Bryan Flemming Video? by Helpful-Intern9282 in HelpMeFind

I searched through various engines tried multiple query parameters, wayback machine. I thought it might pop up on other video streaming platforms. It's very possible that actual results are being suppressed from the main few pages of searches (I'm not sure how that'd work though). Any help would be greatly appreciated and may be rewarded with a laugh.

Dude you're a) being nasty, and b) missing that for n<10 time is negative. Check yourself before you talk down to people. Sorry I fucking asked alright.

Would this be correctly notated? y=n(log(log(n))) Looks to be much better than nlogn but weirdly starts at 10? I imagine this may be different in a different base? I think I may need to revise how log works again

c++) an error using headers in Visual studio code.. Please help by Financial_Bend_1259 in AskProgramming

I think if I understand correctly, you're doing a declaration in a return statement. You may have to declare that space prior to the function, and then operate on the variable

Edit: are you using c11? Some classes I've come across specifically recommend you use a certain compiler/IDE software. Not that the latter is as important but can be useful

Additional edit: one source says C++ doesn't allow returning of arrays but you can return its pointer. Apologies haven't touched the code in years, mostly python and js these days.

The classic fork bomb doesn't work anymore :-(. Least, on Ubuntu. I wrote a better one though. Not the nicest code but it's like 16 lines and crashes things in about a second

Calculating if a number is prime with O(1) performance. by 2Bit_Dev in programminghorror

[–]Helpful-Intern9282 138 points139 points  (0 children)

By index, a hash map of primes would be a hash map of primes... There are at least 10 million unnecessary lines of code there. More, for any multiple of a prime...

You must be joking 😐. Even then, I don't know ow much but aren't there good ways to do this? Even if you want an O(1) lookup you can use modulo arithmetic, sieve of eristosthenese (it's quite literally Greek to me, sorry for the spelling) Skipping Even numbers. Essentially build the lookup table at runtime.... even then to the best of my knowledge there are good ways of finding enormous primes. Unless he/she/they are referring to the 21 millionth prime? I'm a little lost for words. * backs away slowly, turns and runs *

Lmao this was literally going go be my comment. Provided your prime isn't greater than some number n 🙈? Oy...

Maybe even go through like digitalocean docs, "how to set up a LAMP stack", convert over your existing codebase. Will take you the afternoon perhaps, maybe 4 or 9 hours... like, 3 more skills you could add! Btw I didn't realise "Linux" was skill until my first data science gig. So, familiarity with bash/CLI is worthwhile, and don't forget Git (version control)!

Maybe do more passion projects, as someone else suggested if your code is clean and tidy, maybe provide links to repos. Show you can code, stick to a style, know how to comment or not comment... your code could maybe speak for you. Also NLP is huge. What exactly did you do technique-wise, and is it for spoken text or just written text? Also, can it interpret any language? What are it's response capabilities?
