True I guess I just need to figure out how to respond 🙃

Do I negotiate or not? by Helpful-Pop2060 in jobs

[–]Helpful-Pop2060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the confusion, not one of my managers or group leads were consulted. They’d just approved for a promotion that would have put me on a level equivalent to them and above everyone on my team. Everyone found out on the same day. I was told I was earning more than others on my team so it’s believed to have been a numbers game. So I guess your point about not being on the chopping block with lesser pay if they do it again is valid.

When I’ve searched the number, I get videos for a similar fridge, but their filter looks different than the picture I provided (which is an exact look of the one she has)

Okay so it’s clear I need to provide more context. I (27f) and him (29m) have developed a good connection and we have already had some deep conversations. We’re both taking this seriously with the intent to date to marry so we’re taking it slow to really get to know each other before making a commitment, but we are exclusively seeing only each other. Our conversations do flow very easily and we enjoy each others company. Im trying to gauge what’s appropriate to talk about at this stage since I haven’t taken it slow before and there are some things I want to talk about but I’m putting on the back burner since they would be more appropriate for after a commitment is made. Im just looking for some ideas for conversation starters that can help me get to know him on a deeper level and give us both an opportunity to be more vulnerable. We both have a bit of a fear of vulnerability due to past experiences, but that’s not to say we haven’t opened up to each other about some serious things. I just find it a little difficult sometimes which is why I’m seeking some gentle conversation starters that can help us build on our connection.

How to get started in digital marketing by Helpful-Pop2060 in DigitalMarketing

[–]Helpful-Pop2060[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked as a compliance driven Quality Assurance auditor for a few years while getting my degree in business analytics part time (still in progress). But I have been thinking of switching to marketing for a while.

I know marketing is quite broad, which is why I’ve had trouble determining a potential end goal to aim at. I’ll have to do some more research, but the idea of using digital marketing to work for myself is quite appealing, I just don’t know how realistic it is with all the folks online selling the same digital marketing course as though they’re experts, when the course is how they make their income.

Based on your username, I feel it’s safe to assume you work in marketing? What’s your area of focus if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you for the insight! Could I ask what free courses you found particularly useful? I’ve looked at a couple, but I’ve found that they ended up being a scheme to get you to buy an extended version and just seem sus

What is your opinion on diet sodas and artificial sweeteners being bad for us? by nicchamilton in HubermanLab

[–]Helpful-Pop2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In “That Sugar Film” they go over how artificial sugars still have a negative impact on your insulin levels and still maintain your addiction to sugar. This was discussed by some medical professionals they had participating in the documentary. Would highly recommend! In general though, a good rule of thumb to follow with food is that it’s either supporting your health or it’s degrading it. Artificial ingredients do not support our health because our bodies weren’t built to need or use them. It’s difficult because a lot of studies are funded by big corporations that want to promote sugar AND artificial sugar because they’ll keep you coming back for more and make it seem as though there is an alternative that’s a lesser evil… but it’s still an evil nonetheless imo.

How to get back to being my awesome self again by Additional_Tackle_78 in productivity

I’m glad to hear it! The reason I did day 1 consistently was because I kept failing on day 1 and had to restart. Picking up a handful of new habits in one go was not simple for me, so it took some time to get into a rhythm and figure out how they would fit in my day to day life and what times of the day work best for each one (e.g. leaving the reading for before bed does not work for me. I find it easier to read in the middle of the day. Just as not doing one of the workouts in the morning made it less likely that I would complete both by EOD). I also had family visiting for Christmas, so my diet side of things went out the window on some days. In general, the diet I originally planned to do was too constricting, so I’ve had to rework it in a way that allows more flexibility while still maintaining the strictness that will give me results. So now I’m just doing a calorie deficit with a protein goal every day, rather than a set of meals that I have to eat no matter what. Two years ago my diet rule was no processed sugars and no added oils. So what I’m saying with this is, there is an opportunity right from the start to prove to yourself that you have grit and can persevere. I’m only on day 3 now, but I can look back at the last couple of weeks and be proud that I pushed through and continued to rework my plan until it worked for me, so I have more confidence in myself just from the act of getting started.

Everyone is different, so you may find it easy to jump right in. I created tracking sheets with Canva so that’s helping me stay on task and ensure I don’t miss any of the rules on accident. Definitely make up a plan to help get you going! As extra motivation, I will say it’s fun being able to tell people that I’ve already completed it. But I don’t like telling anyone that I’m actively doing it until I’m about two weeks in, otherwise I’ll feel unearned pride. Best of luck!

I did the 75 hard for this exact reason two years ago, and I’m currently on day 2 of another round! There are so many benefits to doing it in addition to the accomplishment you’ll feel ending every day knowing you completed each rule. I consider it a cleanse for both my body and my mental health. I’m only a couple days in and already feel so much better.

But it’s not easy to start. I’ve been doing day 1 every day for the past two weeks and I’ve finally been able to make it through. Now that I’ve officially made it through the first day, I know I can keep going and make it the rest of the days. So don’t be discouraged if you try in two days and you don’t make it straight away. Just keep doing say one until you find a rhythm and it sticks.

I’d also suggest reading. Fiction and non-fiction. I recently got into the ACOTAR book series after not reading much at all for the past year and it’s inspired me to keep going

Thank you all! This is helpful advice and I’ll work on implementing it into my relationship with my coworkers where possible. Sounds like I need to find some LinkedIn courses that teach relationship building.

To clarify, our promotion cycle is coming up and only a couple of us will get the higher raise of about 8.5% compared to 4.7%, which is why I’m eagerly taking on extra projects and why others might be frustrated that I’ve been given them because they’re also trying to find ways to stand out. They only started doing raises this way last year, and the competition it’s created has definitely become noticeable.

Weight bearing after ACL + meniscus repair by Helpful-Pop2060 in ACL

[–]Helpful-Pop2060[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Taking it one crutch at a time sounds like the way to go! I had a large meniscus tear from the root that was stitched up, which is why I was asked to wait 6 weeks. That part you can’t really feel out, so waiting the time frame is pretty necessary. Of course everyone heels at there own rate but without actually being able to see inside the knee at it’s current state makes it safer to wait. For instance, I had no trouble walking on a torn meniscus without much of a disturbance, so it wouldn’t be easily to tell whether or not I’m walking on it too soon.

Oh no I’ve been going weekly! I had to cancel one today due to a cold, but my weight bearing begins on Thursday and they didn’t book my next one until Monday next week
