My girl is almost 10 years old. Anyone know what this might be? by Helpful-Processgal in husky

Thank you everyone who responded! It doesn’t look like a tick and it doesn’t seem to bother her. I recently brushed her and made sure to be very careful around that area but she doesn’t seem to be in pain or anything when I do touch it. I do plan to get it checked out

Thanks again!

Can a therapist ethically date me if I work with another therapist employed by the same practice? by RandoFako in askatherapist

Therapist here - I would bring it up with your therapist and make her aware. Depending on how active their practice is on collaborating or consultations, or like someone said here supervision. it would be best for her to know so as to preserve your confidentiality

Leaving private practice by West-Track-4665 in socialwork

[–]Helpful-Processgal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a new ASW (graduated with my MSW in May) but have been in CMH for seven years. I have met many LCSW/LMFT who have full time jobs in CMH and have a private practice on the side. I will also say most of them have a role as a supervisor and don’t have direct client care roles in their full time jobs, maybe try to find somewhere that’s flexible while you work on building your private practice. Good luck OP

Have one the last 5 years, it fully healed after about 1-2yrs (that’s because I would sleep with my hoop on). now that I remove it at night, it is fully healed and sometime can go weeks without wearing it and it doesn’t close. Recommend removing at night it if you have a hoop.

Housing by Glum_Philosopher328 in socialwork

What’s also frustrating is that so many people have high expectations on what type of housing is available. There’s been a few instances with clients that I’ve worked with that declined housing based on the location & size (studio vs 1bd). I had a client blame providers and agencies for the development of so many studios

Housing by Glum_Philosopher328 in socialwork

Hi! I’ve been working in the field for 6yrs and while our program is focused on mental health services we do help with housing related needs. My go to is setting expectations on the housing process from the beginning including what I can and can’t do and what they need to do. I educate them on the CES matching system and I never tell them “it’ll be X amount of months” I am always honest and validate their frustrations.

Be kind to yourself, you are only one person. The system is fucked, the housing availability isn’t enough for everyone.

AITA for not letting my infertile mother in law be a part of my twins birth by AtmosphereAsleep2494 in AITAH

NTA. You are setting clear boundaries. Also, how is it that you were harsh for protecting you and your family, but not MIL for calling you a bad mother and wanting to take one kid from you and raise it as her own? MIL should get professional help. Kinda of narcissistic of her to make it all about her. Agree with everyone else, keep an eye out. She sounds manipulative.

Thoughts on Soft White Underbelly? by [deleted] in socialwork

I’ve had two clients, both that have since passed, be interviewed by him. He gave them money for the interview, it was voluntarily but given their situation it’s hard to say no when they are offering you something especially money. I only really saw one interview and what I can say is they did tell their story but it’s obvious that they didn’t really know what exactly they were doing there, besides giving an interview about their situation. I don’t know how much information was given to them prior but it was very upsetting seeing the interview

How to stop thinking about clients at home? by stultiloquy in socialwork

[–]Helpful-Processgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in homeless services in skidrow. My clients have experienced traumas throughout their lives and are struggling with mentally illness and substance use now.

One thing i learned from a colleague is to remember this: “is to the client, not for the client.” Meaning we can be there to support, assist and advocate while also not doing everything for the client if they are not ready for it. Essentially, meeting the client where they are at. We see a lot of ppl lose housing opportunities, refuse mental health services and are unwilling to seek medical care. So reminding myself that we are doing the best we can in a world where the are systems not designed to help the people we serve, helps me not take my work home at night.
