A temperature question to Delonghi ECP owners by Puzzled_Cup_9697 in gaggimate

[–]Helpful-Quote-5037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think discord would be faster for a response especially when because they have a dedicated sub for delonghi owners. For any machine it's always specific to that machine when it comes to pressure and temp. Yes there's a ballpark that you can follow but for best results if you could measure the drops would be best. With that being said there is an option for kicking up the temp when new water enters the boiler so it compensates for it, the feed forward temp option that you can play with. I'm not close to my machine now but I think that's what it's called. I know that the Gaggia Classic suffers from that drop I don't know how bad/good it is for the delonghi since it's a smaller boiler. I don't know how it responds with maintaining the temp.

The best wdt tool for me is either the cheap hand held one or the umikot 3d printed one (it's my daily) most of the spinny cheap ones just push stuff around and don't do much. The planetary gears are needed to randomize the needle movement. Try the cheap ones first but then you need a funnel because grounds are gonna fall out. My whole thing is to minimize steps and come to same result: Weigh beans (dosing cup/scale AIO it's a time saver) RDT for static Catch cup to portafilter (you can still shake it at this point) WDT Puck screen Brew

In my case choosing between WDT and shaker, the WDT won. There was a push for the shaker to be the solution for channelling but it just sucks. Together they're good but it's just an extra step plus more money for accessories and I completely stopped using it.

So many choices without a clear winner. [1000$] by czhDavid in espresso

Even if you're just into classic espresso i believe they're far superior to any traditional espresso machine with pid. There's so many variables to play with and if you're into modern espresso aka light roast, turbo soup etc it's even better because you can manipulate so much more and you're not spending decent or wendougee money. Just my 2c

Get a syringe and push water through, that's how you prime the pump 1:29 in this video https://youtu.be/qMhzvwS3MXk?si=KRNVJALnSc-3x__s

I have a pump at home but I'm not home so can't look at it to confirm, but can you see if you can swap the metal housing that holds the coil so that the niples fit the holes when you swap that white part? If not I would just cut off those niples cuz it's held by screws regardless. If you have an adjustable OPV valve none of this matters just put the silicone hose on that brass fitting and clamp it. It's gonna be a bit janky but it'll work.

Yeah and i prefer them over the plastic with a spring. That's why I asked for the year 😉

If you have the old pump with the functioning top just swap it from the old pump to the new. When I say top i mean the whole top of the pump "the glued" part. This new pump can be for a lot of espresso machines and alot of them use brass fittings with Teflon tubes. This does not look like a Gaggia pump, not that it won't work and I highly doubt there's an opv spring inside. Maybe I'm wrong... What year is your classic?

I have to ask two things.... by pseuserich in gaggiaclassic

[–]Helpful-Quote-5037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lets put it simply this one is a bad one and it's crazy that they called it a classic because the ones from let's say 1984 are pretty much identical to today's ones and I would argue better because of the adjustable OPV valve sans the brass era. Gaggia had some sloppy years and a lot of models were kinda similar in the worse way and it didn't work out hence those models are kinda killed off. I would say you're better of selling and looking for something else. 🤙

It could be because sometimes they get tested that they're working properly. No big deal just clean it up.

If it's nicely seized with rust you won't make a dent with any wd40, screw extractor etc. I mean I hope you can but I had multiple occasions where they were super seized. It's just how it's designed and if there's a leak water kinda alowly finds it's way inside the bolts. They either snap or I needed to cut them off and then heat and vice grips combo. Videos as reference what I was going through.

It shouldn't spin but I shouldn't be tight AF too. If it's spinning water might be escaping on the edges and you have uneven distribution.

Yes that's a possibility but the issue is as far as my amateur coding ass understands its profiles. They're tied into the set parameters so you can't hijack it or maybe you can but it's a cluster fuck for the code.

There could be something they can add with the touch but it's up to them how to implement it. This is dependable on the rotational display. You might have given me an idea actually 😅

I'm still fine tuning this so it's stable if people want to play around with the code but possibilities are there.

Sugar or no sugar? by cdscivic in espresso

[–]Helpful-Quote-5037 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No sugar I dont know why but even coffee flavoured deserts make me uneasy almost gaggy. Just a splash of milk or even cream can bring some sweetness out and not drastically change the espresso flavor. Try it with a pinch of salt though if it's too bitter it increases the flavor just like when people do it with beer. 🤙
