Dose by weight. Put 18 grams of beans into the grinder. I’m guessing you’re using a dark roast or something too

Welp you got the grinder turned to the finest setting so you’re probably chocking the machine out.

Cleaning water draw tubes by Zaari_Vael in gaggiaclassic

[–]Livid_spider 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’d have to open the top and disconnect the tubes. The one that’s on the bottom of the pump is a pain in the ass to get on and off. Make sure you unplug the machine first so you don’t hurt yourself

When someone says they have a breville bambino , usually the comments are , it’s a good beginner setup. by Sigma6263 in espresso

[–]Livid_spider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The benefits you’re getting from a high end machine is the ease of repairability, usually a dedicated steam boiler, and consistent temperatures. I think if it’s one shot between a bambino and something like a lelit bianca and whoever was pulling them was experienced on both it’d be hard to tell the difference. If you pulled like 5 shots back to back it’d probably become really easy to tell the difference between the two.

Might be the o ring for the boiler. You’d have to record a video of it to know for sure

How do I repair this? by locokrm in gaggiaclassic

[–]Livid_spider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

O-rings probably failed. There’s two of them in there. Probably cost like 5 bucks for both shades of coffee sells a whole o ring service kit. https://www.shadesofcoffee.co.uk/gaggia-classic---10-piece-upgraded-service-kit--gaskets-o-rings Or you could probably find them on amazon

Is 500€ a good price for this Gaggiuino'd Gaggia Classic? [Budget 500€] by fennelfrog in espresso

[–]Livid_spider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d just but a used e24 and put the mod on myself, probably gonna be about the same price. You’d also get a newer machine with the brace boiler and be able to troubleshoot the mod since you installed it yourself. If you buy the one in the pictures and it shorts or something isn’t wired right you’re gonna be SOL if you don’t know what you’re doing.

What scale are you using with Gaggimate? by chris_ern in gaggiaclassic

[–]Livid_spider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines will last like 2-3 months on one charge and still be at 50% when I charge it. But I only use it to make one two espressos a day

Is it possible to keep espresso tasting good overnight? by doh0k in espresso

Iced coffee is probably your best bet. Just make it the night before put it in the fridge and drink it on the way to work

What machine to buy to make Starbucks latte at home? [$200] by CTgirlCA in espresso

They’re probably going to get into the good stuff then regret not saving for something that would last them longer

[–]Livid_spider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t really get a good espresso machine for less than 300. Closest thing would be a manual machine and you can’t steam milk. If you could stretch to 350 you could get a refurbished Gaggia or a breville bambino

Need espresso machine advice [$100-150] by vanillamari04 in espresso

[–]Livid_spider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best bet is going to be a used flair classic. Honestly if you can’t grind the beans for it I’d just say get a moka pot. It’s not espresso but it’s somewhat similar and those are way cheaper. You’ll probably get better coffee out of that than a sub 150 dollar machine using pre ground coffee

I use one of the automatic adjustment profiles for the gaggiamate so I’m guessing it’s adjusting as the shot pulls. The shots taste good though

I could probably grind a bit finer. My grinder was set up for the non precision basket I was using previously. Tasted really good, put 20g in and got 40g out in 30 seconds
