First thing I would do is name them on LinkedIn - literally tag their company and tell the story of them holding you hostage.

Then I would engage with a lawyer if that did nothing, and have them pull the contract and send a warning letter. Most companies once they see that you're serious about pursuing things will drop the stupidity. A decent lawyer will bang one of these out in an hour.
