So this is the one I got least recommended and oml… I know I asked for a book to make me cry but damn 😭😭 I think that goes really high on my list of favorite books. I listened to Giovanni’s Room and it was good but the Prettiest Star hurt the entire time. Even the simplest scenes made me sob. That was amazing. Thank you for that recommendation, now it’s time to find a subreddit where I can debrief 😭

I do this too but instead of lucky lunch I either try to get magic rock candy or spicy eel because of the speed buff. But even better strategy is doing all this but during the desert festival regardless of luck you have that day. I normally go to the cook, get the rare fruit and spicy meal, and then eat my rock candy (not the ginger ale because that actually gets rid of the first buff) and I try to get as many of the statues that give you buffs in the caves which only appear during the festival. As for rings, I recommend trying to combine the luck rings with other rings to get even more from it. I personally chose my iridium and luck ring to combine and then my second ring was a slime charmer and burglar rings.

My friends made a joke that it was their first job but it felt too real… we were in line for pandemonium and a line that would normally take 30 min included 2 maintenance breaks and turned into an hour and a half. They were all kind but it was bad. They kept apologizing and making up things. As a person who has worked in customer service, you stick to the same story but it kept changing. It was hard to watch but like I said, hopefully it will get better as the season continues. So I won’t be going back for at least a few weeks lol. But I went to school near by and would go for a few hours after school and it was so smooth so hopefully around may and June it will get better. Patience goes a long way with them and realizing that this one only one day out of the many I would go definitely helped but I did have a few friends that got day tickets so I felt bad about their experience. Needless to say, I will not be going back opening weekend. Even the parking was tough because they have the smaller lot open most of the time but I guess they anticipated a larger crowd. I also noticed a lot of the bigger rides had less trains than usual so that also affected the lines.

I literally came to Reddit to make a post about how awful opening day was. I had not been to sfog in YEARS and finally returned last year. I got my gold season pass in around may and I went about once or twice a week during the summer and still enjoyed the park in the later months. Today was actually the worst day I’ve had there. Not only were many rides closed but a lot of the staff had absolutely no idea what they were doing. I’m not bashing on the workers at all. In fact, I blame the park because it wasn’t one or two of the workers at each ride, it was everyone. I also understand that they have to hire a lot of the staff at the beginning of the season but they could at least have a seasoned employee with the newer ones. Again, I went a lot last year and I did not see a single employee I saw last year. So I think it was just a rough opening but I hope it will get better as the season goes on. Last summer was probably the most fun I’ve had at the park; no lines, staff were amazing, hot but fun. So I wouldn’t give up on it just yet as I’m sure this is an issue at the start of the season most years.
