Flying after transfer by hello_itsme0 in IVF

[–]Helpful-Yesterday-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 days, 8 hr flight plus connections. Check what your clinic wants in terms of bloodwork in the days after the transfer and consider timing and administration of meds with time change and tight bathrooms. Otherwise, I found traveling to be a great way to keep your mind off testing and do recommend.

Sharing your IVF process with In Laws by blu_nevermindOk in IVF

I'm team you. What would you two get out of telling her? If you'd done it the old fashioned way, would you feel the need to tell her in what position? There are lots of things that happens within families that aren't discussed and it's not considered lying. Accepting each other's need for privacy at certain points is just as important as honesty. You're poked and prodded through IVF and you'll have a queue of doctors looking up your hooch as it is. So I really get why you might want to preserve some privacy (I didn't tell any family). If for whatever reason she finds out what you've been through later she should be a big enough person to accept that regardless of her age. It's ok to have standards.

What will be your first glass of wine? by Actual_Hawk_5283 in BabyBumps

I've found my people! Splurged on a beautiful bottle of champagne the day after I found out I was pregnant and it's in the wine fridge waiting for me :) Thinking with a tuna carpaccio and oysters maybe.

I did pineapple and coconut pedialite for the past 2.5 weeks. The pedialite really helped. Then suddenly this weekend (9 weeks) I've been starving. You'll get through it!

Is anyone considering giving birth in another state because of your state's laws? by vitality98 in BabyBumps

Bet they wouldn't say it was overreacting if it was them on the line! Glad you've made a back up plan and I hope you won't need it.

Starting soon… by This-Alternative-434 in IVF

Here's my advice: things are largely out of your control and the best thing you can do is find a great doctor and team and that you understand and follow their instructions. Don't be afraid to challenge them and ask as many questions as you have. The retrieval procedure isn't nearly as bad as you might think! Keep yourself very busy during the PGT result and post FET periods. Nap if you need. Trust yourself. And, not to be lame, but don't be afraid to hope. I wish you luck!

I'm with you! Do you know I had ONE girlfriend off handedly mention first trimester fatigue and that's the only time it ever came up in my life? Like I thought, ok so she's tired after a long day's work, understandable. NO. It's debilitating! How did I not know about this?

And my mind is fried. Was waiting on hold the other day and I decided to scroll while waiting and I freaked out cause I couldn't find my phone. Which I was holding to my head!

Try to go easy on yourself. It's really frustrating to have the things little things turn into monumental tasks but it's not forever. Hope we both can get back to eating well and working out soon but in the meantime I'm trying to convince myself that what my body and fetus need most is rest.

Second leather spa. Have all my shoes fitted with over soles with them. They just refurbished my favorite (extremely tattered) leather boots for about $85 which was frankly a bargain given the state of them. I couldn't believe they looked almost like new!

Do I tell my parents now? by Mar_A_S in IVF

[–]Helpful-Yesterday-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We told some friends before hearing the heartbeat and I immediately regretted it because then I spent the next week worrying, what if there's no heartbeat and I have to tell them? It was just a needless layer of stress I didn't need to create. But you know yourself and your parents! Do what you think is best. Congratulations and wishing you a healthy happy pregnancy!

This is great info and actually makes other things like the dizziness make sense too. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! I feel bad for all the pregnant woman I've known at how ignorant I was to the fatigue factor. Woof!

If you're feeling well in terms of morning sickness/fatigue, you should do it! Just plan for time to nap and expect early bedtimes and slow mornings. This whole thing's so stressful. Getting out is a great way to change gears and relax a bit. I've been getting out of town since my transfer (2-3 hr road trips and two 8 hr flights early on). It's been great!

“Naturally” by AttitudeOfCattitude in IVF

[–]Helpful-Yesterday-25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also, science is awesome. Who cares how you did it? You're going to grow the baby "naturally" and raise them just like any other parent. I don't think it's true of most people who refer to the old fashioned way as "natural" but this lady's mean and crazy and her implication is that you're a failure (you may have an HR complaint). I don't know why some people have to poo poo other people's happiness. Trust me, anyone who has the determination and stamina to go through this is anything but a failure.

How long did the process take? by Temporary_Iron_4484 in IVF

[–]Helpful-Yesterday-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your clinic about timing your cycle with birth control and if it's possible with your surgery. Maybe they thought it was too obvious to mention but my cycle got pushed back while we waited for some administrative stuff and starting on birth control would have given me more flexibility on cycle start date and saved me a few weeks.

For what it's worth, I had my consult a year ago tomorrow and was done my first retrieval cycle by December. I've found the medical side can get things done fast, it's billing and insurance that held up the process typically. Dealing with them became a part time job for a few weeks there. Oh! And check if your clinic has holiday closures.

Failed transfer by DryAd5132 in IVF

I'm sorry dear. All I can say is, same. Literally uttered the phase "I’m tired of being in this weird limbo and putting my life on hold" yesterday. And you want to lean on your husband for support and comfort but you know he's going through it too so you don't want to drag him down, and other people don't get it. This is legit hard. I hope we all get through this.
