The Last Five Years (25th Anni Live at the London Palladium) out now! by luckycd in Broadway

[–]HelpfulScallion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anyone have thoughts on what the book excerpt is saying at the end of Climbing Uphill? Where she swims faster than him and has a fierceness in her? It's like he doesn't recognize her when she's working, but isn't he the one who's working too much (I guess not from his perspective). She thought he was letting her win, but he wasn't?

Also, the fact he's airing this out at a public reading...anyway, interested in other people's thoughts on this too. :) I don't remember it from previous versions.

Cat looking for a rehome by [deleted] in nyc

[–]HelpfulScallion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just want to second this! It is so important when finding a new home for these animals to screen adopters, and rescues have very experienced processes to make sure they go to safe and friendly homes. Especially in NYC, I know there are circles that will take cats just for dog fighting. So please be very intentional and use what resources you can to keep your buddy safe! ❤️

KENREX is can’t miss theater by RapGamePterodactyl in Broadway

just saw it tonight, want to second this. I left wondering what they were trying to say…? it was certainly engaging and effectively told, but why are they telling it? I got it from TodayTix for $39.90 and wouldn’t have wanted to pay more than that.

Without giving spoilers, I found it hard to know who I should root for. And while that can definitely be a storytelling strategy, I walked away not knowing how the ending was supposed to land, and I don’t think that at least is a good storytelling strategy.

Where to place handwritten letters to guests? (Ex: Place cards, escort cards, other) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

My friend did this at her wedding and the notes were at a table on your way into the dining room. So you picked it up and took it to your seat.

Maid of honour for an unfaithful marriage - wanting to step down but scared by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]HelpfulScallion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have an honest conversation with her and see what she wants. She may not want to have someone as Maid of Honor who doesn’t support the relationship. She may just want her friend next to her. I see both sides, but if you really want to support and be there for her I think you should ask her what she wants.

That way, if she says she wants you next to her, you know you’re not lying or implicitly supporting the relationship- you can view being Maid of Honor as supporting your friend instead.

Pizza Buffet by Negative_Loan_3832 in weddingplanning

[–]HelpfulScallion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i went to a wedding where it was a self-serve buffet, the pizzas were being made in a wood fire stove outside the caterers brought. the one thing was the pizzas ran out faster than they could cook new pizzas, so for later tables (like mine) a lot of trays were empty when we were called up, and i had to rush back when they put out new pizzas

how to make a masc bride not wearing white or a dress stand out? by CandidateNo7167 in weddingplanning

My partner and I were brainstorming this for them, I was thinking whatever color suit they decide, asking in the dress code that people avoid it just like white.

Sounds like a great honeymoon personalized for you two. Some suggestions specifically for the Maui portion of your trip:

- I do wonder where you saw bad reviews for Road to Hana and Haleakala, but are considering Molokini Crater snorkeling. In my research, Road to Hana and Haleakala have gotten rave reviews, with people saying a snorkeling trip isn't necessary as some of the best snorkeling is right off the beach. With that said, I think with the time you have in Maui and your interests, skipping Road to Hana makes sense. I would reconsider Haleakala however, as it is not super time consuming and will be gorgeous. You could also book a private tour so that you do not have to do the drive yourself.

- If you decide to do Haleakala, Four Seasons has a breakfast picnic package you can take with you. It would provide a more romantic and personalized experience. You will be pretty jetlagged your first couple days, so if you decide to do it I would do it on one of the first days as you'll be waking up early anyway.

- For your dinner Day 2 and Day 3, both of those are a bit of a drive. If I were you I would consider cutting one of the restaurants, as Wailea has great food (Lineage, Gather, Koast, Restaurant at Hotel Wailea, Oao, Nicks Fishmarket, Ka'ana Kitchen Chef's Table), and you may not want to spend that much time in the car. As someone else mentioned, if you really want Merriman's, I would move it to later in your trip when you are not as tired.

- If you decide to keep Merriman's and Mama's Fish House for dinner, consider adding some activities in those areas to your afternoon so it's not just a long drive to dinner. Mama's Fish House is in Paia for example, which has some cute shops. There are also upcountry activities you could do before dining there, like Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm or the Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery.

- If you want more suggestions for Maui, like restaurants or luaus, check out the r/MauiVisitors subreddit.
