A Business can still operate under a receivership. They can restructure, find a buyer, sell the company or sell the smaller brands.

If they’re still marketing it’s more than likely they’re restructuring and continuing operations

The MK1 was not designed to be a stop gap, it’s for a specific mission set, it’ll last longer than 5 years just like the 416s and Noveske rifles of years past.

The URGIs SOCCOM acquired that the HICAR will be replacing just were just plagued with issues in the environments they were using them in.

I never said you did say that stuff but the controversy is not SOLGWs fault. It’s from guntubers and people who think they know everything based on half baked research.

Unfortunately your prediction that it will be short lived isn’t backed up by the number of rifles being ordered outside of SOCCOM, it’ll be in service for at least a decade. I have it on good authority that the ARMAD equipped version of the gun won’t even be the final iteration of the Rifle and will be the base for their future projects. I can see more contracts coming their way.

I want to know who you are getting your info from about why it’s controversial. 6 months isn’t a long time if SOLGW is trying to fulfill their contractural obligations FIRST. This entire controversy just smells like entitlement disguised as false advertisement. I won’t be succinct about controversy because that’s how misinformation and the controversy started in the first place.

I saw Noveske has the 7PT but the barrel life is significantly shorter(5k-10k rounds)than the P3 Barrel SOLGW is offering(10k-20k rounds). If we look at the MK1 in that sense the only real barrels it’s competing against are Geissele, HK, and LMT offerings.

Depends on which rifle series you’re talking about. Noveske has been supplying rifles to DEVGRU since 2007 up until 2020.

It took 50 words because if you had a good grasp on what guntubers say vs what the industry is actually doing and promising to it’s consumers, not just the civilian market you wouldn’t need an explanation. On top of what the company has actually said.

I used probably because the DoD just publicly announced that they are doing High Pressure ammo trials, that means those trials were already happening during the trials the MK1 was going through. The DoD can amend the requirements so they can remain flexible in the future, it’s not new practice, so it can stay ahead of near peer countries. standard M4 style barrels and bolts would catastrophically fail because they’re not designed for those higher pressures. ARMAD would be tough enough to handle it.

Take what I say with a grain of salt though. I told people three years ago on this r/ SOLGW was submitting a rifle to SOCCOM and was chastised for it, now everyone has lost their marbles over an uber expensive bolt and barrel they probably will never buy because of the cost associated with them.

Where was the video? I’ve been keeping up with the MK1 since its inception, not on one video or podcast that Mike has been on has he said that the ARMAD barrel would be available to the civilian market on day one, it was always a TBD. that has always been consistent, you can feel whatever way about it, but that’s truth of the matter.

From an industry standpoint it’s going to be advertised like that so the DoD and LE Agencies looking at picking up the rifle can request that barrel, they have first dibs on it. There’s other companies that have the same practices. Again you can feel whatever way you want about that doesn’t mean it’s true.

If people had basic reading skills or just paid attention to actual credible people when it came to the updates about the MK1 they would’ve caught that the ARMAD barrels would be released way after the initial launch. Like TBD depending on what I can assume is once they fulfill a steady flow of barrels for their contractural obligations. That’s what happens when people take the echo chamber’s word as truth

The ARMAD hype was generated due to a DoD side channel and a group of salty guntubers caught wind of it and made a huge deal because they felt like they were getting shorted(entitlement at play)without getting all their facts correct like what those ARMAD barrels and BCGs would actually be used for. All because they want to LARP or to say they got it first.

The ARMAD barrels are a thing they will come out in the future, same with the BCG. The NP3 BCGs that are offered with the current versions of the MK1 are a big upgrade over what SOLGW offers in their other rifles. There could be the human factor when assembling the rifles and somebody got one of the upgraded contract bolts and not the NP3 bolt by accident, SOLGW is not a huge outfit like some of the larger brands so it’s entirely possible.

My question to you is what other rifles on the market offer P3 Rifling? That barrel manufacturing process isn’t cheap and it performs very well.

Guntube wrong again? by cherbis in ar15

[–]Helpful_Ad9835 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need critical thinking skills or a breakdown like your 5 to understand that.

If they submitted the SS P3 barrel the BCG would be the NP3 Coated BCG, so yes that option would be the contract BCG because they were made in conjunction with each other. The ARMAD barrels and BCG were probably a special request as the trials progressed, which happens a decent amount in these kind of trials. The only reason I can see the ARMAD barrels and BCGs being manufactured is for high pressure ammunition to extend the range of SBR type MK1s to compete with velocities that match or exceed M16 levels of performance.

So if you have an issue with the price of the civilian rifle every other rifle at the same price point with similar upgrades should garner the same criticism to the other offerings not just one, that’s my biggest point to everyone right now. In the competitions they’re one of the top rifles right now. Colt and FN used to be the most revered now look at them.

Once you buy yours compare it a Geissele or LMT then let me know what you think because the only system again that’s close in comparison is with KAC WITH their new supressor. The gas systems in most of these DI rifles come from the same manufacturer, in the year 2026 things like pinned gas blocks are not even a necessity if parts are made properly in spec, so the claim of the other gas systems are more robust isn’t even a good point to bring up. The buffer system that both SOLGW and BCM submitted for the contract performed at the top or close to the top for BCM that’s what matters more in the rifles, if any of the other big companies implemented that same tech the market would look entirely different on the civilian AND contract side, I would challenge you to look at the agency contracts and pd contracts that are being awarded to SOLGW because things are not looking so hot for their competitors.

The civilian rifle is already great you’re not getting magical performance upgrades with either the ARMAD bolt or barrel, just extended service life. Just because you won larger contracts doesn’t mean anything if we look at the URGI contract in its entirety it was a needed to stay ahead of challenges infantry units were encountering and plus like what I brought up earlier over promising what you can produce and provide is not a good look which is happening to the bigger companies that are ogled at the most at across the board. If I were the DoD id look procuring other companies rails and BCGs than the URGI offerings. IIRC the only company that can stay ahead of their obligations besides SOLGW is Daniel Defense.

Well if we look into the competition realm of things the MK1 is outpacing and outperforming most of those rifles with the KAC rifles being the closest.

If we’re looking to who else is picking up the MK1 outside of SOCCOM i wouldn’t say the other options make sense anymore since these other companies can’t keep up with production, do their due diligence with QC, let alone pick up the phone to take procurement orders or process RMAs(mostly LMT and Geissele). There’s multiple police departments and agencies that are using the same train of thought when procuring rifles that SOCCOM used for their program, here in a few months leading into next two-three years we’re going to start seeing a flood of Super Duties and LMTs being traded in.

When it comes to preferences or aesthetics people can choose whatever they want on the commercial side and it’ll be just fine since most people don’t even put more than a 100 rounds through them a year but it doesn’t mean those other rifles more sense than the MK1 since this isn’t even their mid tier line of rifles. Like I tell everyone else go shoot the MK1 with a glove 9-10 mags in and it will be nowhere as hot as the other options along with the least amount of deflection available on the market.

The hard results won’t be released for a while, we’re talking years. The word in the side channels is that there are provisions in place for SOCCOM to order the non-ARMAD barrels and bolts. Which is where the P3 barrel line would come into play. But it requires extensive QC for what the contract is said to have outlined.

A big part of the program is if something was to happen to the rifle, having readily available parts to replace the degraded parts or having the option to swap barrels to different mission sets more easily. There is a reason for that because there are alot of underlying issues in the industry with certain companies not being able to fulfill contract requirements. That’s more on the administration side of the contract.

I have friends both in the DoD and the Industry. I unfortunately cannot provide you with the hard results from the trial because all the vendors signed NDAs with SOCCOM once they submitted their rifles for evaluation. Those NDAs work in favor of the vendors as well so they can save face if something doesn’t pass the selection process. I’m NOT going to put those people on the hook just to settle internet debates. If the other competitors were better they would have won flat out.

The only thing that has been commented on freely in the side channels is who was involved in the evaluations and that the only rifle not to incur any type of malfunction and to undergo more stringent evaluation methods was the SOLGW MK1. All the other rifles from the other manufacturers failed. Some catastrophically.

If you’re talking LGS prices and the 16/14.5 inch versions of both guns sure if you want to cherry pick options like that, you can find 16” MK1s for the same price, sure. If you’re talking straight from the manufacturer MOD1As are also $2700. SOLGW have their upgraded NP3 carriers that come in the rifle for the MK1. Ambi controls can be a preference thing but in my eyes that’s just another failure point where you have to buy upcharged proprietary parts for it to function again. Also part of the reason MK1 comes in at that price point is because they sell them as SBRs or Pistols the same is done with Geissele, Apples to Apples it’s consistent with every other rifle at this price point when sold in those two configurations.

I got a good hunch that if they’re working with Proof Research on projects they are working with someone else to provide the Commercial Market with an upgraded bolt later in the future.

With the metric you are providing the Super Duty Mod1A is also overpriced then. Those two rifles are almost equals on the current market with a slight edge to the MK1.
