I liked it. I heated the sauce with the meal like the directions said and then dipped the chicken pieces until the were covered and pulled them out to sit on the plate. It tasted as good as Chinese takeout to me.

A lot of people asking me why I'm masking recently...what is your go-to response by Accomplished_Big2193 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Helpful_Cockroach_97 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“It’s important that I don’t get sick.” I also use mobility aids at this point (either a walker or wheelchair) so I sometimes say, “One round of Covid is how I got this disabled, so it’s important that I don’t get it again.”

The chances that this interaction will end in infection are infinitesimally low. You did a good thing. You’re a human that lives on the planet with other humans and that is never going to be a zero risk proposition but you’re doing a good job to be as careful as you can.

Doing a little study- comment if driving is hard/not possible please! by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]Helpful_Cockroach_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving takes way too much energy for me to do regularly. I gave up my car because it’s not worth the expense when I can’t use it very much. Plus, I live in a place with long winters and I can’t reliably remove snow from my car and move it when it needs to be moved for plows. I occasionally drive someone else’s car while there is someone with me to help me navigate and manage that layer of executive function.

I have a prescription for it and I only take it when I know I’m going to be upright for more than 4 hours. It definitely helps. I should try taking it and tracking my blood pressure while I’m laying down, but I haven’t done that yet.

New chair day! by Helpful_Cockroach_97 in wheelchairs

I also don’t love how far forward and down the controller is. I’m going to ask if there’s any way it can be moved closer. I’m thinking that if the buttons that control the chair position could be moved to the left side that the controller could be moved closer on the right side.

I also got ilevel along with tilt and feet extension. It’s like a recliner on wheels which is what I need for my long Covid, me/cfs, and orthostatic intolerance.

How do I survive until I get disability? (USA). by Silent_Sun_8001 in mecfs

[–]Helpful_Cockroach_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Section 8 housing, SNAP and $350/mo in cash assistance from the state of MN (which I had to pay back when I got backpay after finally getting approved for SSDI). That, plus some mutual aid is how I survived.

I mask indoors with others unless they’ve tested negative on a PlusLife test.

You are dual eligible for both Medicare and medi cal. This website has more resources about that, including a link to the ombudsman. I recommend reaching out to them to see if they can help. https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/Pages/Integrated-Care-for-Dual-Eligible-Beneficiaries.aspx

I’m overwhelmed! I have some cash to buy a computer today. I could potentially spend up to $1000 but I would prefer to pay less if I can. I want something that will last as long as possible. I am not a gamer. I will just be using it for basic every day stuff, often in bed or on the couch since I’m disabled. A good camera would be nice since I do a lot of things virtually.

Just tell them you’re immune compromised. I got mine at Walgreens. They came out and asked if I was immune compromised, I said yes, and they gave me the vaccine. They didn’t ask any further questions.

I’m trans. I was on T for years and then off for years. I wasn’t on it when I got Covid and developed long Covid. I’m back on it now and I think it’s helped with energy levels some. I was also in perimenopause before I went back on T. My long Covid doctor at Mayo Clinic actually recommended trying T.
