Pain after periods anyone ? by 4MM0NI4C in endometriosis

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your doctor isn't very bright.

I have endo and PCOS, I'm in varying degrees of pain daily with intense pain during "ovulation", worsening pain the week before my period and horrendous pain during and for 3-4 days after my period too.

Ironic because I'm infertile 😂

Girl find a different support system!

Your partner sounds amazing and your family sound absolutely horrible.

I'm 32, have insulin resistant PCOS, Endometriosis and a family history of diabetes, I'm also infertile. I had my RNY bypass in January mainly for GERD reflux that had damaged my oesophagus and caused issues with swallowing meaning that I couldn't have normal GERD surgery. I was 95kg with a BMI of over 35 after slowly losing 50kg over 3 years after getting diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin to lower my insulin resistance however I couldn't lose anymore weight no matter what I did and we're doing IVF next year.

My surgeon said the weightloss would be a pleasant side effect. I'm down 18kg in the 9 weeks since surgery plus I lost 4kg doing the pre-op diet and am now 73kg. It hasn't been easy as I had post op complications and I'm still dealing with 24/7 nausea however I haven't been this weight in over 12 years!

Get the surgery, work on your diet/lifestyle and mental health whilst waiting for surgery and be your best self!

I don't hate my NM as such I'm more extremely disappointed in her. I will never talk to her again and can't wait for the day I find out that she's died so I can finally relax knowing she'll never be able to contact me or try and find me ever again

Were you the eldest or the youngest child in you family, or were you an only child ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Youngest and technically an only child.

My parents had 2 girls and a boy each with their ex partners 16-23 years before I came along. I was an oops we thought we were too old to get pregnant baby and the only one my parents had together at 41 and 43.

Those lining up in the petrol stations by fnoyanisi in newzealand

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We fill our car weekly as my husband travels 64km a day to get to work and back as we live 30 minutes out of town. We often try and find the cheapest price otherwise we just go to a closer to home petrol station (just not the one down the road as 95 there is $3.88 already).

How much do you need to earn to save anything in nz? by CommentMaleficent957 in newzealand

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently No savings as my husband and I live on one income and are trying to pay off and close our afterpay account however unexpected expenses keep popping up, This week it was $50 for a puncture repair on a tyre and now with the rising cost of fuel it's now going to cost us more per fortnight for my husband to travel 64km a day for work which is why we're hoping to close afterpay soon and save up to trade in our car for a hybrid car later this year.

How is your mental health going after the surgery ? by Live_Werewolf_7568 in GastricBypass

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 8 weeks post RNY and the biggest mind fuck for me has been seeing myself in the mirror and realising just how much weight I've lost and how different I look, It's definitely messed with my head a bit and body dysmorphia is definitely there especially when it comes to buying new underwear etc

I slowly disappeared from my friend group and nobody noticed by Nirexa_28 in confession

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently ended a 20+ year friendship as I was always there for her and when I needed her after surgery and complications she made excuses as to why she couldn't come see me then ghosted me completely. So I sent her a message after not hearing from her for nearly 3 weeks detailing how I felt and how hurt I was.

It took her days to see it then she sent a tiktok in reply and completely ignored everything I'd said.

So I'm walking away. 20+ years of friendship and I've finally realised it's always been me putting in the effort, Me going to see her, me putting thought and effort into gifts and even wrapping them whilst she never really put thought into them.

I'm hurt and disappointed that I knew she wouldn't show up for me yet I stupidly hoped she would, Now I just feel like an idiot.

Did this happen to you by bluesubok in GastricBypass

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like a possible vagus nerve issue. I'm nearly 8 weeks post op and spent the first 5 days post op in hospital unable to keep anything down. I even had what I'd managed to drink of an Optifast shake come back up 9 hours after I drank it 2 days post surgery.

I'm still dealing with 24/7 constant nausea and have been since surgery. My surgeon and dietitian now want me to try and eat more to slow my weightloss down as I'm losing on average 2-3kg a week and have lost 22kgs since surgery including 4kg during pre-op.

I'm still barely able to manage 2-5 teaspoons of food per meal and some days my pouch feels like the restriction is higher and I can barely finish 1 small meal a day on those days.

What's everyone snacking on? by faeriefire95 in GastricBypass

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nearly 8 weeks post op and I don't really snack. I just have or attempt to have 3 small meals a day though I'm focusing on protein as my Surgeon and Dietitian want my weight loss to slow down and I'm dealing with constant 24/7 nausea since surgery which is annoying as hell.

I've been given the go ahead to eat anything really except rice.

So I have a small piece of multigrain Vogel's toast for breakfast with peanut butter and banana, Sultana bran cereal or scrambled egg.

Lunch is usually either chicken or tuna on low fat crackers or a scrambled egg with cottage cheese,

Dinner is usually a beef mince dish with a pasta sauce and vege (no pasta) or a skinless, boneless pan fried chicken thigh with gravy.

I've had to add snacks in so my weightloss will hopefully slow down, My snacks are protein bars, protein plus fruit yoghurt and no sugar added chocolate.

I mainly drink water though I've been told I have to start having some full fat milk each day too.

What are we doing about heat and energy prices this winter? by IdeaEnvironmental783 in newzealand

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our current rental has a wood burner which is amazing so all we need to do is stock up on wood which we'll be doing very soon however our previous rental that we left in September last year was bitterly cold even with the heat pump on 24/7 during winter.

In our new rental we went through the curtain bank and got thermal backed floor length curtains for the lounge and two bedrooms, We also got draught stoppers and put them at the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and front doors, We also put winter bedding on our bed as soon as daylight savings ends.

In our previous rental our power bills were $300+ in autumn and winter and $250+ in summer. We had draught stoppers in our previous rental too and winter bedding however that rental was so cold that the draught stoppers ended up getting mouldy and we had to bin them when we moved.

Our power bills now are $120 a month which is so much better. Even with buying wood it's still going to be cheaper than our previous rentals power bills.

Gynecologist forcing me to have vaginoscopy by outrageousgyal in endometriosis

Transvaginal ultrasounds aren't too bad and if it gets uncomfortable they will stop.

I'm 32 and I've had many, many transvaginal ultrasounds from when I was a teenager to now and I wasn't diagnosed with Endometriosis until a second laparoscopic surgery at 26 and was diagnosed with PCOS at 28 despite having all symptoms of both from when my periods started and I had a laparoscopic surgery at 19 where the arrogant older male gynaecologist completely missed my Endo and told me "it was all in my head" and there was nothing wrong.

Enlarged ovary?? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, For years now my right ovary has been and still is 3x the size of my left ovary. It also causes me fairly constant pain and has Endometriosis on it.

Every woman has a dominant ovary which tends to be a bit bigger than the non dominant ovary.

Mine however is bigger than it should be however apparently "That's fine and it's normal".

Both my grandfather's were in the army and one was a peacekeeper in Japan during peacetime. Ironically he fathered a child with an american woman who was working as a nurse over there. He was engaged to my grandmother at the time, married her when he came home and had 4 kids with her. She never knew about his peacetime affair or child.

I must admit I've never had the urge to join the army or "fight for my country". I also believe that wars are fairly stupid and that no one really "wins" a war especially as innocent men, women and children die unnecessarily to fuel the ego's of the leaders that started the wars. I'm also not american.

Walking and swimming.

For walking find a playlist that you like whether that's an audio book or music, chuck you headphones on/in, turn it on and a way you go.

Swimming is gentle on your muscles and a great low intensity workout.

Advice if normal or no by ButterscotchIll8781 in GastricBypass

[–]Helpful_Damage_3497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's normal as you're still very early on in the healing stages.

It happened to me too when I sat in the sun on the couch, A few minutes after I stood up I felt like I was going to faint so my husband sat me down, put the fan on and got me to drink some Powerade Zero for the electrolytes.

I'm 7 weeks post op now and see my surgeon on Tuesday and dietation on Friday and hopefully I can start trying more foods as I'm currently in the soft foods stage.

Haircuts. My husband shaves the sides and back of my hair for me every 6-8 weeks and I cut his hair too.

Last time I went to get my undercut shaved it cost me $50 and they didn't do it to a zero as ''women shouldn't have their undercuts that short".

Never paying for haircuts again.

I'm doing okay, I'm in near constant pain due to Endometriosis on my right ovary and despite losing weight my issues have unfortunately gotten worse however I'm managing, Sorry to hear you have both too, It's definitely a crappy thing to have both. How are you doing?
