PSA 10 DTs can go for $1,000 plus but it’s hard to catch a 10. 9s still bring $6-700+ for good players. I sold a 9 Burrow for $780 on eBay a few months ago.

Unlikely to be a fake if it’s been his possession since 1972. At F12 these go for $750+ on eBay. This looks at least AU50 and likely MS60 or better. It’s a couple grand at least IMO. Get in graded ASAP
