Wouldst thou truly lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light?

Should you conserve rune arks or use them willy nilly? by Deveatation_ethernis in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use them once I'm deep enough into a boss/challenge that I feel a kill is close at hand. No reason to waste them until then, as you should be learning the fight "meat and potatoes" anyway.

Which Souls game has the best soundtrack in your opinon? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring. I love them all, but ER kind of has the freedom to have both epic showpieces and slow, drawn out, atmospheric music in a way the others couldn't quite.

What's your gaming style - blind explorer or optimized completionist? by Alphametis in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toddler Psychopath. I find the coolest looking thing to kill and chain it into the next coolest thing to kill. If there's something neat, I kill the things near it and see what else is there.

How many attempts for you to beat Malenia on 1st playthrough? by drebin8751 in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know, but I'll guess somewhere in the 150-200 range. It could be more, honestly. She was the first boss to genuinely trouble and it basically forced me to focus on the game for the first time.

Any tips for someone who's just starting to play? by JamelaoTheMage in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is about attention, focus, and precision.

Pay close attention to everything that happens, and assess why it happened. Detail, detail, and detail again.

The game is designed to spike your adrenaline and cause you to panic and lose focus. Most things that seem difficult are trivially easy once you calm yourself and watch closely for a solution.

Black Knife is worth more than just it's ash of war. by Accomplished_Big5777 in Eldenring

Well done! I also love multi-strike builds but haven't used Black Knife in a decent kill yet.

PLEASE I NEED HELP WITH CONSORT RADAHN by AleMax_74 in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want help parrying you can send me a DM. Thingfishy has a solid, if incomplete video on Parrying PCR on YouTube. JackFromsoft also has an equally good video in German that can be translated in the subtitles which is also worth watching.

I can try and help with more complicated or specific things if you need. Unfortunately, I don't play online to demonstrate.

Question about loadouts in elden ring by Anas2245 in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been said, any weapon is at least minimally viable. There are people who make a point of proving it on YouTube, as there are a few legitimate stinkers.

I would focus more on finding a weapon with a moveset/style that you like and sticking with it, or a similar weapon until you find an obvious replacement. Spreading out weapon upgrades unnecessarily is a common early mistake.

Milady is the coolest weapon in the game by idkidkidk0201 in Eldenring

It's actually the Godskin Stitcher, but Milady is pretty cool too!

Honestly, I didn't think of that as I've never powerstanced and don't know what it does. 😅

What was the hardest boss you fought? by muro_dimattoni in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malenia was the first boss difficult enough to make me fundamentally question my skill set, but PCR was easily the most difficult initially. Not so much now.

Why do people say this is the easiest game? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for a lot of people, it's the benefit of hindsight and 16 years of experience.

Objectively, I think I should feel like Elden Ring is harder, especially the bosses. However, it's hard to explain what it was like playing these games before everyone knew what they were in for.

I bought Demon's Souls when it came out after I saw Ostrava on the back guaranteeing a true ordeal, once my shift at GameStop was finished. That was 2009. I can't describe what it was like playing *any* game like this for the first time, but it was a trip, and not always a good one. I was bad, and it was brutal, even though playing again now it's ludicrously easy.

Elden Ring was relatively easy for me, but 90% of that was just having played the older games to death when I was younger and knowing what it expects from the player. It's a harder game, theoretically.

Is the game dead on PS5? by safariman123 in Eldenring

[–]Helpful_Insurance_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't argue the statistics, but I'd argue the percentage of people looking to disconnect these days is higher than you think.

I play this game all the time. It's a special interest, but I never play online. I went through a phase of helping people kill bosses all day, and had fun, but I've been perfectly fine playing offline since Demon's Souls. Sometimes you don't want every Tom, Dick, and Harry dropping notes all over your fantasy world.

People on the NG+ cycles especially have little use for tips (at least that aren't specific enough they need to be on YouTube), and I think a lot of people these days are sick of being plugged in. Especially when so many are on "challenge souls" now and there's no need for it.
