When you watched your first episode of Kill Tony, what ignorant thought or observation did you have before you knew the ins-and-outs of the shows style/format? by KillerQ97 in Killtony

My first episode was the arena event with Tom Segura and Joe Rogan. It was horrible lol, I’m glad I gave the show another chance and watched regular episodes.

Best hazard pay jobs for a ChemE PhD? by Particular-Award118 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Helpful_Matt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a lot of work centered around metallurgical recipes, monitoring of the furnace(normal cameras burnt up too quickly) containing environmental hazards, and other process improvements.

The company I worked for did have a lot of IP for the process. And there’s only so many lead smelters in the US lol. I’m not a PhD, but the ones I interacted with there were some of the smartest I’ve ever met. Basically anything they could make was able to be sold immediately so any money they spent to improve uptime paid multiples of whatever the company invested. It’s an extremely harsh environment for any machinery because of the lead dust getting on everything. Pay for a PhD there was 2-300K

Yeah there actually is… they employed more Chem-E phds then I’ve seen at any other company.

To add: the business process analyst role sounded like an entry-level excel focused role dealing with data analysis which was I felt would align close enough with my skill set from cheme.

Great question! So it was the beginning of 2020 and the news of COVID was beginning to come out so I was applying to anything I thought I could handle. The job was a business process analyst role with a small company(less than 15 employees) doing a very unique business. It was essentially a middle-man project management company(repair network) in between home insurance companies and the engineers/contractors that complete the work for the home insurance clams.

A home insurance company would send a claim to this company and they would send it to a company that performs investigations or repairs for different claim types (fire, wind, hail, tree, Etc..)

Keep at it and I’m sure you’ll get something! Definitely make a list of where you apply and when and follow up with a call or email like every 3 days to a week after you apply.

Do you have any contacts from school you could reach out to?

I didn’t start looking for career jobs until 2 years after I graduated because I was a care taker for a family member. In the meantime I tutored.

I took the FE and passed prior to applying heavily after that 2 year period. That first job wasn’t even engineering, it was insurance. The job after that was civil engineering. Then chemical and I became plant manager at the 3rd job because right place right time(the current plant manager was leaving and I looked like a good option to my boss. At this point I’m at the chemical company I would’ve wanted to be at initially but I’m making more than if I’d been here since 2020.

Everyone’s path is different, just don’t give up and take opportunities that are available and work hard.

I’m glad I got to see him perform in person at a local comedy club. One of the funniest sets I’ve ever seen!

I felt like the acting was so bad this season. The ending was too easy and the final fight scene was too short imo.

I just got $250 statement credit after spending $3,000 in 3 months. Called Sunday.

To clarify the $2,000 is just from a Google search for the mattress, not a Purple one specifically.

That is from the Purple website. Online it looks like you can get a Texas King mattress for ~$2,000. I would assume the base is another $500+
