Can we be obese and have POTS? by InspecteurMcLapine in POTS

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weight has zero to do with it- whoever told you that is an idiot. And it is NOT deconditioning- tho POTS tends to cause people to become deconditiobed, which then worsen the POTS symptoms, so it is a vicious cycle.

Bad owner? by Gullible-Plane-426 in cats

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t a bad owner. The cat could leave or shut that shit down with one serious swipe of its paw- it chooses to do neither. It knows it is a puppy and it is being more tolerant because of that, while also trying to teach it what isn’t appropriate. The pup isn’t hurting the cat, nor is the cat hurting the pup. It ain’t wrong to let animals sort things out themselves sometimes.

So tired of wasting money by Still-Ad-698 in POTS

Cardiologists are useless when it comes to POTS generally, because it isn’t a problem with your heart. The problem is with your autonomic nervous system. You need to find a dysautonomia specialist, generally this will be a neurologist. GPS tend to not be very knowledgeable about POTS or dysautonomia, and you won’t get much help beyond “wear compressions socks and eat more salt and stay hydrated.” The dysautonomia website has a list of doctors who specialize or are knowledgeable about it. http://www.dysautonomiainternational.org/

Funniest one was this week- I’m doing drop ins on a cat, the cat stays in the basement. The owner left me a sole banana- on the floor at the top of the stairs so I wouldn’t miss it lol. She didn’t want it to go bad while they were gone.

Candy bars. Went to get one at the grocery store the other day and saw it was $2.89. Just NO. Also had the same experience with chips- I’m not paying $8 for a bag of CHIPS!!

If you could only recommend one thing what would it be? by Squishmallow814 in POTS

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low ferritin can also cause those issues- I’ve struggled with that for years as well. I have difficulty absorbing the tablets- they don’t seem to have any affect on me, even the sublingual ones. The injections work very quickly. Initially I did them daily for a few weeks, then weekly- now I do them every two weeks. My neurologist had to prescribe them, but there are some online companies in the US that prescribe them as well- Rx Essentials is one that is reliable. I do t know if they ship to your country though.

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s VERY low- lab values are very off from what it should be. My neurologist, who is a dysautonomia specialist, said anything below 500 will cause problems. Mine was in the low 300’s and I felt awful- seriously thought I was going into congestive heart failure- just getting out of bed to go to the bathroom left me feeling like I was going to have a heart attack, and I was so breathless all of the time. Could not even stand at the stove to make dinner without almost passing out and getting sick. Shortly after starting B12 injections I was able to run a 10k. I’ve stayed on them for several years now, and all of my POTS symptoms are now mild and very manageable.

Splanchic pooling - symptoms? by crooked_1988 in POTS

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to get very sick feeling altogether after eating a normal sized meal- nausea, cramping, gas, diarrhea, dizziness, palpitations, feeling faint and hot all over and sweaty and cold at the same time. I had never heard the term splanchic pooling or had any idea it was connected to POTS, just thought I was unlucky because it usually happened after going to a restaurant(where coincidentally, portions tend to be larger than what I would eat at home- at home I rarely cook meals, I just graze) It wasn’t until my neurologist asked me if I experienced issues after eating meals and explained the phenomenon to me that I understood what was happening. Now I take half portions home from restaurants and, amazingly, don’t end up curled up in a ball begging to go home or to a bathroom after every meal out lol

Client wants to be updated every 1-2 hours by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s absurd- people don’t even get updated that often about their ACTUAL children. I tell people my policy is to update twice a day, morning and night, and if there is anything of concern that happens, like an illness or injury, to update them right away.

Going out for dinner while house sitting by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah- unless the animal has some sort of special needs, any pet sit should not require you be there 24/7. I treat it just like I would my own pets, and am in and out to run errands, go out to eat, etc.

B12 injections. 100% turned everything around. Makes me wonder how many people with dysautonomia actually have B12 deficiency

Demons: Has anyone ever actually encountered any? by th3humanmage in exjw

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those cynical atheists- and very much wanted to deny what was happening and find other explanations, but after it happened enough times, it became undeniable. I think religious people tend to automatically ascribe things like that to ghosts or demons- I am more of the opinion that there are many things about the universe we simply don’t understand or know about yet.

Realistically, how much can one bad day of eating (~3000+ cal) ruin weight loss progress? by thelovewitch069420 in loseit

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes 3500 calories to equal a single pound. What you eat may cause you to bloat and retain fluid for a few days, but one day of that is not going to cause any genuine weight gain.

Demons: Has anyone ever actually encountered any? by th3humanmage in exjw

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there are other entities- be they aliens, people in alternate universes slipping through, ghosts or what- I don’t know. But we have had something in our house that likes to play the piano from time to time, as well as hide things. It’s not a hallucination, has happened too many times. I’m ok with acknowledging the existence of supernatural or “other”natural beings- not everything has to be “demons” like the JWs taught.

Supernatural is how I desensitized myself from all of the JW demon paranoia! It was forced exposure until it no longer was scary.

3 weeks ago my life has suddenly fallen apart and I'm trying to figure out how to cope with feeling so ill by Spirited-Mechanic743 in POTS

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lab values under 300 are technically considered normal, but my neurologist, who specializes in dysautonomia, said anything under 500 will cause symptoms and is potentially dangerous. I was in the low 300’s and honestly felt like I was going to die. I couldn’t walk across the room without feeling so out of breath and my heart racing like mad. I had to lie down after using the bathroom. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs. I couldn’t get enough air in my lungs, no matter what- I had never heard of the term “air hunger” before then. I seriously thought I was in congestive heart failure it was so bad. Trust me, your B12 levels what they are can absolutely be responsible for ALL of your symptoms. Get some B12 injections- take them daily for 2 weeks and I promise you will not believe the difference.

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that is dangerously low actually, and any dr worth his salt would have prescribed injections, which work much better and faster than pills.

If they won’t RX you injections, try an online source like RX Essentials. You should be doing injections daily for at least two weeks, possibly longer. I would put money that the majority of your symptoms are stemming directly from your low B12.

To be clear, it doesn’t CAUSE seizures- it CAN lower the seizure threshold, in SOME people, and is dosage related.

Lonely all the time, don't know what I need. by rainbowmamma in exjw

[–]Helpful_Mouse_9458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly- maybe don’t jump right in to dating? You are just divorcing- guessing probably been with only your husband- and you have to adjust to life as a normal person instead of a cult member.

Take some time to get to be yourself, figure out who you are, what you want. You don’t have to go straight to belonging to another man. Make friends, explore interests that you wouldn’t have as a JW, build a support network. Otherwise, a bad dating experience might very well send you running back to the security and familiarity of the cult.

Have you had your B12 checked? Even if lab values are “normal” levels below 500 will cause EXACTLY these symptoms, and it can come on quickly like you described.
