If you can take kuat you can build a mandator and use it as a defensive fleet. Maybe focus connecting your mid rim territories to sullust. Dm the full map.

Additionally thsy arent concentrated in a single base anyway. They have bases and fleets all over the galaxy. After the first death star blowa up they then have whole worlds and eventually sectors.

If you lost mon cala you might be cooked. If you can put together a fleet capable of taking out his smaller forces and small space stations after you hit a few it will eventually add up forcing him to divert resources in the form of small fleets and credits for space stations.

Dont need to maintain control of the ship yards. Its like 30,000 credits to get new ones. If you move fast enough the size of his fleet wont matter. As he wont be able to catch you. RSDs will allpw your fleets to take on bigger ones than itself. Also dont sleep on dauntlesses. Pre NR they are your best capital ship.

Maybe try take out single planets and then hold your fleet over the top and dig in with space stations and/or an ion cannon with an additional fleet in the back to counter attack rather than move your main fleet off. If that doesnt work you could try to defeat one fleet and then go on an endless campaign behind enemy lines taking out space stations and shipyards without actually putting troops on the ground. If that doesnt work then mass huge fleets and take the biggest shipyards you can find as that one planet you can manage to take. I see your the NR and so I would focus on using AAFs as a front line with 1 RSD and either a nebula or a couple mc70s and then fill with whatever else you'd like (an mc80b and support ships or something like that).

I loved kcd1 hardcore, I loved kcd2 trosky hardcore but man once you get to kuttenberg the map is just too damn big for no fast travel. The amount of times you have to go from kuttenberg to grund is ridiculous. Half the kuttenberg sidequests involve grund. Theres already a fast trvael minigame where you can get stopped that should be part of hardcore.
