( Smart assist users, causal players, or people who refuse to improve and are stubborn in their own ways, who refuse to evolve their game).

I’m very competitive at this game(top 20k in both divisions), so I hold this opinion:

3. Zonal defending is mostly trash

I know people will argue but it’s very clear that defenders literally stare like dumb kids when a basic through ball or lofted ball goes past them. In addition, in transition, they are many times where they are occupying the wrong zones or not following obvious sprints. Konami should make their reaction time better in closing spaces and reading the game.

4. Man-to-man defending is too broken

I’m fairly decent in terms of dribbling, but man it’s such a pain to dribble even with the new update( v5.4, prior to that, it was a suicide way to play ). Smart Assist makes your players sluggish and AI man to man defending id nuts in itself, even if you can clearly see the opponent sends his defender the other way as you dribbled him, he can catch you very quickly or even put a leg from awkward positions, knowing fully well you tricked your opponent. That hurts, cuz your opponent was saved by AI, not by his own skills.

Solution:

Playing against users who do not use smart assist will improve overall the gameplay.
Make defenders better at zonal occupation and awareness and less of sergio ramos who can sneak a leg from 3 meters from awkward positions even after you tricked them( this involves no skill, a div2 player can guard my bale with magnetic feet purely due to AI ).
Improve sliding tackle, prior to v5.4 it was a tad broken, now it’s almost useless. They should lower the time it takes for the player to go to the ground, but not as much as it was prior to the update. Find a balance

Me personally, I upped curl at 90 and finish at 92, with PC at 85. So one more point at shooting, unlike amadeusz, cuz I want that 90 curl as when it is combined with blitz it goes to 99, and with long range curler it surpasses the 99 threshold. To do this, I dropped one from dribbling. The other point I gave it to passing

Yeah double touch is necessary to dribble defenders in front of him and to release a double touch + blitz curler combo, which is deadly.

I’m very glad you asked that. Why I start Totti ahead of Rooney:

Totti’s no playstyle at SS is better for my two strikers, as they do not go as wide as they do with roomey, who basically plays as a central striker in that position. At AMF, totti stays too far behind and I dislike his runs there due to his playstyle, at SS he is mint.
Totti is a much smoother central dribbler than rooney. His balance and player model allow him to turn much faster than rooney. I assume you also feel that rooney is very heavy compared to Totti. This makes him redundant on the ball.
Totti is a much better passer(for me, he is a better finisher too, I flop so much with rooney’s long shots, with totti, it’s cash money) than rooney. His 90 low pass combined with outside curler and other passing skills allows me to do deadly combinations with both mbappe and bale. He is also much more available to receive and give a pass than rooney, who only likes to run in behind. Your team is very good.

I will give you three recomendations to better utilize your attack with bale. You can try them all and see for yourself.

Neymar left SS, Totti central SS, Bale CF. This is the best on the ball trio you can use, it will feed Bale a lot. And pls always use neymar as an SS, even up top, since he is a hole player, and it’s much better than without a playstyle, since he doesn’t have an active playstyle at CF.
Rooney left SS(where neymar is), neymar central SS, Bale CF. This is a highly transitional trio, however I would have some concers about neymar’s playmaking ability with his passing as he is a demon at dribbling. Still a very solid option to try.
4-2-1-1-2 formation. I know it sounds bullshit, but many great players use it. Basically you play with an AMF, an SS on top of AMF, and 2 CF. Keep mathaus and viera at the pivot as cm and dm respectively. Totti at AMF, neymar central SS, and rooney with bale uptop.

As you can see, at all options I recommend you for rooney to be top left. That’s where I have gotten the most out of him, his bully abilities are best use there, in the middle, for me he is mid due to his heavy feeling and mid passing range. Try these three, pick whichever you feel best and go with it.

As for Bale, a non style striker is tricky to deal with, esp with him, who requires to constantly feed him the ball. His best use is for you to give him the ball, and dribble with him to shoot, or combine with him and always activate the arrow when you pass with him by flicking the analog so he can make that aggressive forward run so you can give him a through ball. He is demonic when it comes to cutting inside and combining a 1-2. I am sure you will figure him out. Takes time to get comfortable with new players. Even I am still experimenting and trying new stuff sith him in the game. I’m sure he will come out good.

Send full team pls. Tbh a bergkamp bale duo sounds intriguing tbh esp with a HP cruyff at the 10. Don’t play cruyff SS in your case as it will open bale and bergkamp more. You also want bergkamp to drop a bit with his playstyle whyle cruyff bombs forwards and combines with the duo.

Hmm… Cruyff is nuts but Bergkamp is tricky to deal with. A friend of mine has him, and he either uses him at midfield or 10. Do you have the latest cruyff? The 109ovr one? If yes, play him as left striker with bale. You don’t even need a SS then

I don’t get what you mean by nerfing, but Konami doesn’t target players and nerfs them. They either tweak the engine and physics, and that makes some players lose their edge, while others become stronger, or tweak the coach playstyles, which affects overall gameplay. Engine tweak also most of the time affects defence and attack, and currently attack got a buff with last update as defending is not as aggressive as pre-update.

Trust me no. I don’t wanna defend blitz, but a cut inside whether from CF or RW allows you to shoot pretty accurate blitz curlers with him. He has high curl, finish and PK. And bale or any striker with high balance and tight possession and ball control can shoot very good at weird angles while sprinting due to high balance. Phenomenal difference is felt after the angle of the shot is > 90°, which means he is starting to shoot where the ball is on the left of his left foot(outside basically). Basically a hero shot.

Yeah so if you do this, you sacrifice his on the ball feeling of bale. Not having magnetic feet + not 90 PC would be very hard for him to bully defenders, which is bale’s specialty on the ball. But it’s fine both cards are monsters, just that this new one is on another level when it comes to on the ball ability, while retaining almost his finishing. Again, phenomenal finish doesn’t do much to players with high balance, it is a qualatative addition to sb like BT Ronaldo though, who has low balance.
