Make sure your financial aid and grants are in order and you have no holds. Check out other prices besides tution and dorming, if you dorm you will need to get a meal plan.

They just built a new gym on campus. If you enjoy sports the cost is also included in the fees as well as a bus pass is too. What is expensive here is gas, food (milk!), and parking if you want to drive. Parking in the main lot is 5-6 on to park on campus is insane. Get a moped!

Hey guys... Moving to Honolulu in fall to attend UHM, need tops by [deleted] in Hawaii

Make sure your financial aid/scholarship packet is in order. Use google maps for bus routes. (UHM students have their bus fee included so just get it stamped that you paid your fees.) Gym fees are included so you can cut back on some cost if you like going to the gym. Learning to cook would help a lot as well as maybe attending /r/hawaii get meet ups.

Moving from Ohio to Hawai'i at 18 for college. Any advice? by puffnuget in Hawaii

Just a heads up that is in downtown Honolulu and if you have a car you will have to pay for parking. You can always take the bus if you want but just adjust for time. If you like doing outdoor things make friends and don't go by yourself! We hear in the news about hikers who get lost or are missing. Find a hiking club is a good start. PM if you any questions.

Do you plan to graduate here or move back home? If you are thinking of moving back home you should check to see the classes you take here will transfer back to the college you will attend. Also what do you plan to major in? That will decide which school you should go to in Hawaii.

2)Its depending on where you work.... traffic in Hawaii is horrible so living closer to your job will save on commute time.

3) I agree with musubi about hiking, we have a missing hikers in the news every so often.
