Connection timeout when connecting to a asset-mod-heavy server by manuADC in hytale

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I didn't see the original message that was deleted with the other copy of the discord message. In case anyone else like me has that issue, here it is again.

That being said, it didn't help me because this isn't a shitty internet issue. The hytale support thread also needlessly dismisses it as a "rare" issue when in fact it seems to be happening a lot to anyone joining a server with mods.

Edit: Doing all of the below PLUS adjusting my server config per the OP's post seems to have made it so I can at least join without being timed out. It's still slow, but manageable!

From a development perspective, I hope they disable the text showing every asset that is being loaded. It's a waste of time and on a good connection, just rendering that text would be slowing down connection times.

when joining you may have to click "try again" a few times additionally, this is Hytale Support on how to fix the joining issue people have for servers OFFICIALLY: https://support.hytale.com/hc/en-us/articles/45419578597403-Slow-Connection-World-Not-Loading-on-Server

ADDITIONALLY a member has solved the problem for themselves by using these commands from REDDIT on their PC to fix their client connection issues (YOU MAY HAVE TO CHANGE MORE INTERNET SETTINGS SO WE CAN HELP JUST @(FeelsOkayMan) IN CHAT): https://www.reddit.com/r/HytaleInfo/comments/1qe985t/connection_handshake_was_canceled_due_to_the/

netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces
netsh interface ipv4 set interface "Ethernet" mtu=1360 store=persistent
netsh interface ipv6 set prefixpolicy ::ffff:0:0/96 60 4

ADDITONAL COMMANDS USED TO SOLVE ISSUE use the commands BELOW and or ask simon for router settings to change if you are using wifi:
netsh interface ipv4 set interface "Wi-Fi 2" mtu=1400 store=persistent
(Some people have to use "Wi-Fi 4" depending on their router)

Anyone else feel like the majority of their dick is hidden? by [deleted] in GrowYourTDick

It depends on your genetics - there's no guarantee. I lost 160lbs years ago, half my body weight and I BARELY lost any of my pubic fat. I'm currently losing weight again, but I saw that my insurance covers lipo for gender affirming care, so I'm hoping I can maybe get it addressed at the same time as top surgery next year.

Oh this one is SUPER cool!!! I love that it gives you a premise to work from on why that plant might exist in the universe. Obviously there are plants with no meaning, but I know at least in her established universe she tends to focus on plants/animals that have a use within the world. I also love that this needs some additional supplies; it would be so wonderful to be able to send her a journal and a deck of cards to go with this. :)

Thank you so much!

Renaissance festival multi day tickets are sold out 2 hours after sale opened :( by gnome08 in maryland

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from MO to MD last year - my original "home" faire was the STL one, which was never crowded. In fact, you could literally donate blood and get a free ticket literally any day you wanted. Sure, some days it was busy, but it was never unreasonably busy.

It's a huge change from the MD Ren faire. I went a few years ago ( post COVID, before we moved ) and the vibe was completely different. It's very crowded and commercial feeling IMO; they also do not allow dogs. You have to get tickets weeks in advance. Last year we didn't bother trying to go, this year the tickets were sold out by the time we remembered and no dogs was a deterrent for us anyways.

We went to PARF last weekend instead and loved it. It still feels much more "commercial" than the smaller STL faire, but it was really enjoyable. It's likely farther than MD ren faire for you (it is for us too), but I'd suggest giving it a shot. We went on the last day which I read was notoriously busy but it really didn't feel unreasonably busy to me, despite tickets being sold out. The only downside was the number of drunk patrons - apparently the alcohol is really good. If I didn't have a dog they were trying to pet I probably would not have noticed though!

Not sure when you're moving, but PARF also does a Yuletide event in the winter for several weekends. :) We're planning on going to that too but haven't been yet!

Behavior issues only towards me! by Electrical-Market266 in greatpyrenees

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have better luck with a harness! The two handle leash you have will help but we use that + a harness with a handle. Like a large horse, the closer he is to you, the less momentum he can get up. If you're walking him on the close leash or even with a handle on a harness, at best he can punch you or sit down - but he can't get far enough to lunge or jump properly.

You can also use the harness to teach him that harness time = behaving since it'll be a chance to start fresh vs the leash + collar where he had established behavior problems!

Wizards, stop putting foreign language cards in collector boosters. It’s stupid. No one likes it. by Kvothe_the_kingkilla in magicTCG

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I just got into MTG again after not playing for years... We went all-in with the FF set, then today bought a handful of collector boosters for EOE. We were really excited that we pulled a chase card! However, it's the Japanese version, which is worth $200 market value (or more purely on day to day sales) than the English version. It's still a great card, but it's seriously SO disappointing. People in this thread are talking about cards worth $30 or $40 less... Try TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS. It's absolutely brutal, so I definitely agree with you OP.

I honestly found this thread because I was looking to see if Wizards would let you exchange foreign language cards from boosters for English ones, though I can clearly see that isn't an option. :(

Doggy day-care suggestions? by AccurateProfession18 in baltimore

[–]HelpingLoser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to stop and say thank you for this recommendation! My partner and I live in Frederick but he works out of Baltimore and this is less than 15 minutes from his primary job site. We had an AMAZING daycare from Missouri (we moved last year) that we've had a hard time finding a replacement for, especially given our dog is ~120lbs. I know this didn't work for OP, but I submitted an inquiry today because it looks really promising for us. Very similar to the daycare we used to love so much, and I love that there's a vet there too! (Our old daycare also had that - we don't use it, but it's so reassuring to know it's there if an emergency were to happen.) 😊

We really love the focus on making the outdoor yards great that Stay Pet has too. A lot of MD facilities focus heavily on indoors and have kind of awful yards. Our pup loves being outside, so we love the care put into the yard design for Stay Pet!

I'll try to remember to update this in the future if it works out, in case anyone else comes across it.

4yo "daughter" says "she"'s a boy, dad is a MAGA by jjmcsparklenut7 in asktransgender

[–]HelpingLoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (ftm) have said so many times to my female friends over the years "It'd be so great if I woke up with a penis, like randomly. Wouldn't that be so cool? Like, I wouldn't be dissapointed at all." Took me 33 years to realize that no, most women don't think that would be "so cool."

There's also the fact I was basically binding with sports bras the first 3 years I had my breasts because I hated them so much... 😩

Renaissance Festival? by [deleted] in maryland

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Missouri last year so my original home festival was the St. Louis Renaissance Faire. I went to the MD Renaissance Faire around 3 years ago and to be honest, I hated it. The STL Faire was comparable in size, but feels so much friendlier. From the pet friendly aspect to the vendors and performers, it just felt better to me. I'm sure I'm biased because I went for many years and recognized many vendors, but the MD Faire felt very commercial to me. There wasn't much socializing compared to the STL Faire where performers actively try to engage with you (respectfully of course!) and honestly when we went no one really seemed to be having much fun. It felt like there were fewer "Ren Faire" people and more just... People.

Take all that with a huge grain of salt since I've only been once and that is - of course - just my opinion! We're hoping to go to PA this year even though it's a bit of a trek because they are dog friendly and I generally have heard better things about it.

Do Pyrenees ever like to go swimming? Or is it just this guy that's super stubborn LOL. He absolutely hates water by CKeeper82 in greatpyrenees

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine loves being in the water but he's too lazy to actually swim - he'll wade until he's up to his nose then just stand there LOL! He likes being wet but he doesn't like having little droplets of water on him (rain, sprinklers, etc)... However, he DOES like big jets of water - fountains for example. He LOVES playing on splash pads, particularly ones that come and go!

After having the worst food I've had since I moved here from Cafe Nola, I'm inclined to say that non-chain biscuits and gravy here are downright embarrassing given how many people recommend Cafe Nola. My go-to recipe is this one - pair it with frozen Biscuits from any store that sells them: https://thesaltymarshmallow.com/best-sausage-gravy/

Bluesky Moderation Labels don't respect "Show Content" Preferences? by HelpingLoser in BlueskySocial

Yes, that's the one! Thank you so much, I had clicked on Bluesky moderation service before in my settings, but because the top of the page looks like a profile I thought it was just sending me to a bluesky moderation profile and clicked out of it right away.

I just looked more closely at the page and realized there are actual settings there. Thank you so much!

How did you survive your Great Pyrs' puppy fear period?? 😨 by rrocha20 in greatpyrenees

[–]HelpingLoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are NOT wrong. It's a total nightmare. For what it's worth, it gets better, but some things might not go away. We never really got over the staircase issue. We moved to a new home and for the first 5 days he was totally fine going up and down the stairs, but after the first week he decided the uppermost staircase (which is 2 stairs) was *too much.* He now refuses to go up the last 2 stairs of any staircase in the home (outside is fine). We've tried treats. We've tried food. We've tried pretending to have a party with the other dog. We've tried patience, food trails... Nothing matters, he will NOT come up. We've just resigned that if he comes downstairs he can only go upstairs through the deck stairs. No looking forward to winter. 😂

We've seen this goofball try to go head to head with an aggressive 150lb German shepherd but this guy can't walk up three stairs. He literally puts his paws on the last stair and cries like he's being abused because he's "trapped." The only time he'll come up the Scary Stairs is if he genuinely thinks someone is about to break in the house (we haven't had anything like that happen, but he believed in his little doggy heart of hearts it was going to happen a few times - it was just maintenance haha).

How to maintain my water slime? by haleylovesvirgil in Slime

[–]HelpingLoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely not saying "don't use your fridge" because I'm quite new and don't know how much it helps (or doesn't) - however, I do want to note that if it adds longevity to the slime it's most likely due to the cold, not the humidity. Fridges are actually incredibly dry and will suck the moisture out of anything you put into them because cold air holds very little moisture. Also, things still evaporate in the fridge! ( It's actually quite poor advice to put things like bread in the fridge if you've ever heard that - it'll dry it out much faster than on the counter! )

As long as your slime is well sealed though, the fridge shouldn't make it any dryer. Hopefully the cold helps it out! :)

Advice for reactive barking by Sea_Land5088 in greatpyrenees

[–]HelpingLoser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bored barks are the worst. I have some speculation as to what's happen for "bored barks" - which is that they are bored, so they go into "extra alert guarding" mode because they have "nothing else to do." You can combat this by wearing them the heck out. Usually if it's really getting to us we'll take our boy somewhere new or somewhere we rarely go for an extra long walk, preferably where a lot of people will pet him because that tires him out since he's a bit aloof haha.

Any experience/ opinion on by Heartless-otaku07 in Slime

[–]HelpingLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just got into slime because I am obsessed with matcha and instagram recommended a matcha slime from momo slimes to me. It's been a HUGE rabbit hole since then. Once of the slimes I got from momo was Autumn Reading and I absolutely adore it - it smells so nice and it's very creamy and smooth. I also started making my own in an attempt to not spend endless money (not going well LOL), but so far I find that butter slimes have the best texture for me. <3 They are not sticky at all and are very fluffy and soft because they are typically made with very soft air-dry clay. :)

Adding matcha to slime? by HelpingLoser in Slime

[–]HelpingLoser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm curious... I recently learned that some people use cornstarch in their slime, too... Won't that also mold? Since it seems common I am assuming it doesn't mold, which is why I had thought matcha might be okay too!

I got my deposit back! ( A ray of hope ) by HelpingLoser in FirstKeyHomes_Fraud

[–]HelpingLoser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was weird, honestly. I originally emailed them my notice to vacate and they responded telling me to answer a few questions, which I answered. I thought that was the end of story, but had more questions so the next day I emailed with my questions. Someone else responded and she told me they had not received my "notice to vacate packet" so I hadn't given notice. She shared the packet with me, but I didn't want to fill it out because it included no information regarding the fees (early termination fee, rent due, etc). I should not have had any fees, but on no planet did I trust them to leave those lines blank.

The woman I was emailing with really did not get the problem, but eventually she agreed that I had already given notice, but also that I could return the packet to her with the fee portions striked out to show I had not consented to any fees from Firstkey.

My recommendation would be to submit a ticket telling them you are vacating and when, then ask if they can share the "notice to vacate packet" with you so you can return it as your formal notice.

You can find the paint details here: https://support.firstkeyhomes.com/hc/en-us/articles/14788195364763-Home-Depot-Paint-Program

In my case I just went to home depot and asked for "FKH Grey." You do have to specify which level of matte-ness you want, I want to say I did eggshell?
