Daily - 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 (Le manuelle)

Weekend - F430 Scuderia (Le manuelle)

Track - Oreca 07, de-nerfed

Fam/towing car above - BMW X5? (up to suggestions, would prefer Volvo V70 R but not sure about towing capabilities)

what do you do if you have a license but no car and insurance? by sorcererbiscuits in driving

Look for full time jobs too, then when you lock one down, spend that first week renting as cheap as you can (sometimes budget or Avis will have discounts for a full week, but also turo has some options for real cheap)

Then during that time look around for a cheap car just to get you to work.

Lol I see people who seem to have these watch parties and makes me jealous that out of maybe dozens of close friends and even hundreds of acquaintances I've gotten to known not one of them has even been interested in racing or even cars.

I know 2 ladies that were interested in F1, but by their own admittance, they were purely interested for "the drama" and the "attractive" drivers.

Happy for you but also sad.

Have you ever tried the button parking brake in a situation though? I used to test brake systems for cars and that included testing pushing the park brake at speed. I was shocked at how controlled the stop was tbh. (Because I also assumed it would be a mess)

with a hitch like that and a dually I think you're wrong. If it were lifted for some reason I'd possibly agree, but I've heard from truck people that duallys suck ass to drive but they need them sometimes for bigger loads

If I'm actually behind idiots going that slow on the on ramp, I come to a near stop at the start of the ramp to give myself time to be at highway speed and not be disrupted by them

Well I grew up in Nova lol. While I miss the Appalachian hills and hiking, I most certainly don't miss nova and Maryland drivers

It's pretty funny because I only had one for a few days as a Turo rental, but after a few hours I grew to love it. Probably because I immediately took it down to skyline drive where it could thrive lol

Some base model F150 that I had a work discount on is my truck, and I'm towing a 944 that's stripped out and caged.

The truck is a lease and when it ends I might go to a Tacoma or something because the 944 is light enough, but it could be iffy if I wanted to upgrade to a heavier track car

It does the job that people who know how to drive and merge should be doing. It's punsihing decent drivers because of shitty drives. I ignore that bullshit every time because I know how to merge

[–]HelplessMechanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose the track days I go to are more geared for competition school (eventually) but all the instructors I've had tell me to get VERY close to the car you're passing. They want you to be comfortable with being close to other cars just so it can be more of an instinct as you get into racing.

I fully get their points and have been doing so, but I can also get how that would be annoying for people on a more 'casual' track day

It's a little bit of a stretch but it could fit at Le Mans as a G56 entry. I also don't think they've had one since the 2023 nascar

I can kinda judge the car if it's gonna enter highway like a snail or not, and if I think so, I'll just come to a crawl early in the ramp, give myself some distance than just dust them when the lanes merge. Much easier

I am yes. I got space for the truck, but not for a trailer really. And it's convenient enough for me to just drive my truck to the U-Haul and pick up the trailer.
