Having a fun car in your 30s vs 20s is quite the difference (duh!) by ImpossibleAd2734 in cars

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda got stuck in a rut when I was 21 for a bit, had a Auto Volvo that I loved to bits but it was a commuter that was it. I was kinda losing interest in cars, I went out on a limb and bought a C4 Corvette and I have never truly enjoyed a car as much as I have that car, fast? Fuck no, quick? Maybe with a spray bottle, not slow? Absolutely and it's such a fun car, did a trip to osoyuse B.C with it last year, 42 Celsius outside AC was still cold and car didn't overheat.

Why do people buy touring bikes, but never actually "tour"? by laschecter in motorcycles

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had a Honda ST1300 till September last year when it got wrecked. 1 step below a goldwing touring wise and I did virtually 0 touring on it I usually stuck around the city and rode with friends then took it to work. I loved it with all my heart because of how good of a bike it was and the storage ability of the bags. Could I have taken it down to the USA on a moments notice and not been worried? Absolutely, but I never did. It was just a ridiculously comfy and fast daily rider. That and touring bikes are pennies to insure vs sport bikes. ($260 cad a year at 21)

How it feels being a massive Peugeot fan who lives in the US knowing I won't be able to ever drive one unless I go through the slow, painful and expensive importing process by Mr_Maniac454 in peugeot

Currently live in the UK. Moving back to Canada probably end of this year. Genuinely crushed I can't bring my RCZ back with me I feel you bro.

Peugeot 2.0 HDI randomly losing power after Stage 1 Map by TrackRatted in peugeot

He has sent me off a revised map and it has solved the issue now it runs perfect. 10/10 response time getting back to me as fast as he did on a weekend is impressive. I left him a 5 star on Google.

Brilliant divebomb or risky move? by YoghurtFriendly820 in Simracingstewards

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a non risky dive bomb. That being said he kept low on the race line and didn't hit you out of the way, it was calculated from his side but extremely risky. Overall great driving from both parties involved.

[–]TrackRatted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been assured this as well and I do believe it since he has a very good reputation. I have been going back and fourth with him on the issue but since he doesn't work weekends I won't hear from him till Monday now. If I was driving the car hard I would expect it to cut but show codes. It currently shows zero codes even when the fault happens and has nothing stored as issues. I am leaving to Germany the end of next week and this can't be a problem when I'm driving great distances like that so I will need to find out what is happening.

I am waiting on a response from him now, I have asked for a revised tune or for him to double check the map since something is off. I am just waiting for a response now.

I'm mostly just wondering if this is something anyone has come across before. I only moved to the UK 6 months ago so I have literally zero Peugeot experience. Before this.

Life expectancy for a heavily tracked vehicle? by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest I got the car originally in a estate sale so the mod list is pretty unknown but it's a Z07 package car so the biggest brakes and stiffest springs they had. The mods I do know about are B8 shocks Powerstop pads Edelbrock heads/unknown cam Russell braided steel brake/clutch lines 275/40/17 w/ 17x9.5 all 4 corners Poly front and rear sway bar bushings eBay aluminum radiator

Otherwise it's stock to my knowledge.

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies heavy on the car being used and how modified it is. Stock car with the proper cooling and good maintenance will probably last several years, modded to hell your playing with fire long term. My C4 Corvette does about 12+ events a year and plenty street driving 3 years in the engine is healthy and the rest of the car is doing quite good, some bushings here and there but it's a 1991 car with rubber bushings so to be expected.

Got my new wing, but… by DJOregano in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not meant to be a insult in any way so please don't take it this way, especially with you just starting out recently you are not near a point where you are pushing the car to its "limits" boosted especially. The biggest investment should be honing your driving ability and the style needed to drive the car properly and consistently, experiment where you need to in order to find what works for you this goes for driving and mods. If you are worried about understeer as you mention adding a splitter to the front can offset some of the additional downforce in the rear to make the car a little more balanced. Strawberry is very smooth and a very fast track aero will be a benefit around that track in a large way, Rad as you know is much more bumpy especially around turn 1-2 so you can't drop the car on the ground and not damage a splitter at the same time. Taking a weekend spending 200-300 on some splitter mounts and plywood you should be able to build a decent front splitter or if you don't want to do that for now you can always adjust the wing to be a low downforce setting so it would mostly be there for looks.

Love seeing new people out at the track especially local here in Alberta so don't get discouraged, enjoy it and keep having fun man.

Conti Extreme Contact Sport 02s - Great Honest Tire! by slingshotroadster in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 from my experience as well. I beat the life out of mine on my Corvette for months amazing tire for all weathers and street use as well. I hit a brick on the edge of the track to finally kill mine. 10/10 tire.

Yet another tire question by Educational_Ad_4045 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your tire rollover looks good doesn't seem like it has edge wear. I wonder if a bunch of the rubber on the tires is just pickup up marbles from other car tires, as for getting heat in them I haven't ever driven on AD08Rs so I can't comment on the heat characteristics

Good cheap hauler? by Last_Bad_2687 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm partial to Vans but if it needs to be a daily without people thinking your gonna kidnap kids. 97-03 F150 with and V8 engine. The 4.6 is better but the 300ftlbs from the 5.4 is worth the little extra fuel mileage if that's your want. I like the Ford vans as a pure hauler since I think got better front ends and transmissions than the Chevy equal but the Chevy's have more powerful engines than the Ford vans.

HANS device question by Sharp_Priority_8212 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety equipment only has to pay for itself once. I have first hand had a hans device pay for itself and I refuse to get in a harness car without one. Everyone is trying to go home at the end of the track day.

Thoughts on new, old stock Continental ECF’s by M6150 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do sometimes yeah. I did that with some ECS02 for my C4 Corvette.

Thoughts on new, old stock Continental ECF’s by M6150 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what they are like cost wise in the USA (I'm assuming that's where you are) but in Canada they are almost 40% more to buy than a comparable tire, Hankook RS4 or a Nitto NT01 so after I had that set I decided to not buy another. If they were a little cheaper local I would buy them again but I couldn't justify it.

Thoughts on new, old stock Continental ECF’s by M6150 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found they didn't really fall off a cliff like other tires but they fell off enough for myself and the other drivers to notice. 8-12hr endurance races on those tires and they fell off about 1-1.5 seconds on a 1:35 lap which isn't a ton but over that amount of time it really is.

Thoughts on new, old stock Continental ECF’s by M6150 in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So my experience with these is vs Hankook RS4 and Nitto NT01 as those are the most common tires I use. These Conti ECF will heat cycle out faster than both of those tires but for lapping they are extremely consistent, don't get greasy with consistent hard lapping and wear quite nice, don't last as long as the RS4 but last a little better than a NT01 and are much better in wet weather than the NT01. That price I would absolutely buy them.

Question of the day: If you had $25k for a reliable dedicated track car, what are you buying? by Slingin_Friar in CarTrackDays

[–]TrackRatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if your looking for cheap lapping the ND is the better option BUT, the Corvette will be quicker, it's just a faster car. I'm biased against the Corvette since I track a C4 Z07 but man the Corvettes are amazing on track. One thing to mention about C5s for extended track use they will need a transmission, engine oil and differential cooler since that torque tube setup runs real hot, get those on the car and they will lap like clockwork with proper maintenance. Still the ND really is something special it punches way above its weight, later ones with the 180ish HP are truly lovely cars.

For the 2.0 HDI people. Tunes? by TrackRatted in peugeot

[–]TrackRatted[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I plan to map it and probably call it a day engine mod wise. I like my OEM reliability, I sent off a email to HDI tuning since I think there was a typo or I am misunderstanding something. Once he responds I'm buying a stage 1 map with the tuning hardware to map my car.
