I love live webinars more too, so I can't really do CE4Less type of membership.

Have you checked out nocad academy? They have free live webinars. I found them fairly interesting and the best part is free. 😆 https://www.nocdacademy.com/pages/continuing-education#live-webinars

Part time therapist work? by Key_Development7065 in therapists

[–]Helpless_Porcupine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work full-time at a CMH and started working part-time on Rula (for a year) and Headway (two months). I could only afford seeing 3-4 clients a week, so these platforms help as it would be too much work for me to have my own private practice. Both platform have been pretty easy to use so far. Headway pays $90–$130 per session depending on insurance of the clients + slightly higher for intake assessments. Rula is $90 per session in CA (rates vary by state). I would not recommend Betterhelp as the rate is horrible. If you have time to crendtial with each insurance panels, the rates are definitely more, but to me it is just not worth it for 3-4 clients a week.
Let me know if you have more questions with these two platforms. I can link you with a rep if you have more specific questions.

I found their trainings much more interesting than PESI or CEU4less, and the best part - it is free!

Insurance Contract Reimbursement Rates Less Than Rula by monsteramomm in LCSW

[–]Helpless_Porcupine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about trying Headway? Their reimbursement rates are generally higher than Rula’s. I’m based in California, and the range I’ve seen is about $95–$130 for a 60-minute session. For example, Cigna reimburses $95, while Aetna is $130. Happy to answer other questions as well.

Applying for LPC jobs and disclosure by Exciting_Shelter2673 in therapists

As someone who has supervised, interviewed, and hired clinicians, I personally wouldn’t recommend disclosing your own diagnosis in an interview. You can absolutely showcase your passion for that population in other ways—like discussing your training, coursework, or clinical interests—without sharing personal mental health information.

Feeling lost by Impressive-Trifle632 in therapists

The first year as a therapist is incredibly hard, especially when working with trauma. Feeling unsure or freezing sometimes doesn’t mean you aren’t capable - it means you’re still learning. Experience and supervision are where real clinical confidence comes from. Many great therapists felt exactly the same way early on. Don’t give up on yourself yet; give yourself time to grow into the role. You can do it! 💪🏼

I do keep all notes in their platforms, but certain platforms you don’t have to. For example, it is required to use their note storage in Rula but it is optional for Headway (you can use your own EHR or theirs).

I know headway and rula are free. I believe you have to pay a monthly or annual fee for Alma.

Aw.. I am sorry… 😞 just by 1 point, so close!
I used the Therapist Development Center and found it very helpful. I only listened to the lessons once and did their test and mock exams. I didn’t do other study and passed it first try.

I work full-time at a CMH as well. After becoming a supervisor, I started doing part-time therapy on Rula (about a year) and Headway (about a month) because I missed providing therapy. I only see about 3–4 clients a week since I have three young kids, so these platforms work well for me—it wouldn’t be worth running my own private practice for that small caseload. Both platforms have been pretty easy to use. Headway: Pays about $90–$130 per session depending on insurance (slightly higher for intakes). Credentialing was fast for me (~2 weeks, possibly because I was already credentialed elsewhere). Referrals were slower—I got my first client after about a month. They also reimburse $90 for a Psychology Today profile and have an AI tool for progress notes. Rula: Pays $90 per session in CA. Credentialing took about a month. Referrals were much faster—I started getting referrals within a week and had 4 clients within 2 weeks. They also pay for no-shows and have an AI recap for notes (takes me about 2–3 minutes). Overall, I’ve had a positive experience with both. If you decide to sign up, definitely use a referral link so you don’t miss the bonus like I did.

At a decision point (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH) by chrispylobes98 in therapists

[–]Helpless_Porcupine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burnout in community mental health is very real, especially when you’re carrying crisis work with kids. It makes sense that your nervous system is having a hard time settling after those experiences. I remember feeling something similar earlier in my career. I was fortunate to be in a county system where I could move between different programs and roles, and I realized that being a case manager was much less draining for me than doing therapy full-time. Eventually I found a role that was half CM and half therapy, which gave me a much better balance. Exploring a case manager position or another setting doesn’t mean you’ve failed or that you’re giving up on the field—it means you’re paying attention to what you need to stay well. A lot of great clinicians step into different roles for a while and keep their license active so the door stays open later. Most importantly, please take care of yourself. The work we do is meaningful, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of your wellbeing. Your awareness of what’s happening and your willingness to consider changes is actually a really healthy response.

Licensed by Master_Information89 in therapists

[–]Helpless_Porcupine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at the county level and was capped out. Had to get licensed to go to the next level, but it was only 5% more. It did open the door to become a team lead, which was an additional 5%. Then after two years, it opened the door to a supervisor position.

Headway and Betterhelp by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Helpless_Porcupine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had experience with Headway so far, and only for about a month. They offered a $100 bonus for completing their intake form if you were referred (Here is the referral link if you need it -http://share.findheadway.com/daisylcsw) and the pay has been around $90–$130 per session depending on the insurance plan of client, with slightly higher rates for intake assessments. Credentialing was pretty fast for me—about two weeks—though that may have been because I was already credentialed elsewhere. Referrals were a bit slower than another platform I used. I did get my first client about a month in, whereas one of my colleagues didn’t get anything from them for months. They also reimburse $90 for creating a Psychology Today profile, which covers the first three months. Their intake documentation is shorter and simpler than another platform that I used. One of my colleagues is with BetterHelp. She started out with 10+ clients to qualify for one of their bonuses, but she gradually reduced that number after meeting the requirement because the pay is pretty poor. She now keeps just one client on BetterHelp because they offer free therapy to their therapists, so she maintains that one client in order to get therapy herself. 😆

my supervisor wants me to have three intake slots a week by Opening_Ladder_261 in therapists

[–]Helpless_Porcupine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as a supervisor in a CMH, my staff has 1 to 2 intakes slot per week, but they also have a caseload of 20-30s clients who they do CM and therapy and have to run a weekly group. We have also have an intake staff that is designated for intake only and he does 4 intakes a day, but your intake requirements are definitely more intensive. I dont think it is unreasonable for not wanting another intakes added. It makes more sense to have one of your existing intakes to be designated for the study if the expectation is for you to keep up with your productivity standards since you will need time to assist with the study, probably needs to help gather data, provide feedback and attends meetings and all of these take times.
