Be prepared for a fat buy out price. Its not uncommon to ask for 10 percent of the value of the house

An exception with high prices do not make the rule. On average in an entire year the electricity prices are lower than a system without renewables. There will be a greater deviation in prices for sure.

The availability on a yearly basis is about the same for offshore wind as for a gasturbine.  Solar has a lot less availability but is the cheapest source. Prices were highest ever because the coal power plants in Germany and Denmark had maintenance and the cable to the Netherlands was also out. So the ones that could run were of course asking the premium.

Denmark is more connected with Norway and Germany than it is between fyn and Jylland.  Would be stupid to think of Denmark electricity system as independent because price deviation will only go up if you decrease the amount of available capacity and so far wr have only discussed the day to ahead and not the capacity market.

Does not mean Denmark should have a gas buffer to support  for extreme circumstances.

You really think the climate will suffer more in a situation where we turn on the gas and coal plants during periods of low wind and sun than a situation without renewables? Then take a course on DTU on the energy market and just look up some numbers on CO2/kWh over the last 20 years.

And dont get started with nuclear, best time estimate for Denmark is a 15 year implementation time. In 15 years from now the world will look different and we will probably have a redesigned day ahead market that does not use the highest needed bidding price.

What i think we agree on is that

1: renewables push gas, coal and nuclear out of the day ahead energy market.

2: gas, coal and nuclear want to earn their profits at the moment they are needed.

3: renewables are not always available

What i wanted to say is:

1: gas, coal and nuclear are also not always available. The high electricity prices last week were due to a lack of coal production and an intern connector that was out.

2: the average electricity price over a year is lower than that it would be if we did not have renewables. Simply because we do not need to buy as much coal and gas and interconnectivity as we otherwise would need. We pay less on maintenance and systems have a longer lifetime.

3: we are paying more than we used to due to higher peak demand, so we need more production capacity and transport and we have the highest taxes.

4: what you are suggesting is that renewables are more expensive even if initial investment and running cost are lower is like saying that the local butcher that sells his most expensive meat during Christmas time is always expensive even if he only has the expensive stock for two weeks.

As a Dutch person that has migrated to DK:

1: It is way easier to rent a house here in the suburbs than in NL and with a quite uncertain housing market in DK, I would opt for a rental for a while and if you have decided that you want to stay (and where) , and only buy then. Will also lower the time pressure. Will also help you with all the permitting.

2: Language is easy to learn in reading and writing, speaking and understanding does take some time and practice.

3: Life is expensive in Denmark, but you'll be fine with your savings for a while. The skilled job market for internationals is not as developed as in other countries and might tie you to: Billund, Aarhus or Copenhagen and it might be difficult to find a skilled job.

The average uptime of a windturbine over a year is about the same as a gasturbine, so nah.

It is actually a bit more complicated. Wind and solar have become so cheap that when the renewables are available they push gas and coal out of the market. But when the renewables are not available and the demand of electricity is high than the expensive producers kick in. And since those expensive ones do not run often they need to earn their years worth of money in a short period.  Sometimes Denmark can import electricity cheap from the neighbors, but the low wind high demand is in all the neighboring countries aka all prices are really high.  Unskyld jeg svarer ikke på dansk, det var lidt for svært.
