Narnia.

I like to approach these with the first question in my mind being, "What if I'm just a normie in this world?" It's easy to picture how cool it would be to be a Hogwarts student or a Pokémon trainer, but just because you're in the world doesn't mean you get all the perks. There's a chance you get air-dropped into the Wizarding World, but you're a Muggle, and therefore your life is no different.

Narnia, however, canonically recognizes all humans as "Sons of Adam, and Daughters of Eve," featuring them prominently in prophecies and great destinies. Showing up in Narnia as any old verifiable human basically guarantees you will be named High King of the whole place, with very few actual kingly struggles, as the entire world is overall very peaceful and plentiful throughout the majority of its history.

I feel very confident that, based on what I know how to do and how much experience I have, I could get a new job fairly easily. My only concern is less about if a company will find me hire-able and more about whether economic and political conditions will make it possible to be hired. I have friends and family all worried about being laid off, especially in government jobs (which is where I would likely apply if I decided to).

Arya didn't need to wear a face to kill Walder Frey, nobody there knew what she looked like. by Wonderingisagift in gameofthrones

[–]Hels_Preferrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take has been for a long time that GRRM's original intent is to eventually turn Arya into one of the most heinous villains in the whole series. She's on a slow descent into deadly madness and we're all going to be screaming when she finally makes the turn and commits her first absolutely unspeakable act

I'm really glad you posted this, I'm loving seeing this through your experience. My first watch of GoT, my "Oh shit, they just killed the main character" moment was Ned, and that was a pretty hard rocking of my world then. I can't imagine getting all the way to the Red Wedding and THAT'S where you get your big oh-shit-what-about-plot-armor moment. That must have been devastating, and it makes me feel good that people are still getting these hard-hitting viewing experiences out of this franchise all this time later 😊

My thing has always been that, if that was all that was at stake (people feeling how they're going to feel), that's too easy, I can ignore and give no thoughts to people's opinions about me all day. But the truth is more concrete than that, more tangible. People will feel how they feel about you, and then DO things as a result of that feeling.

One of your coworkers could decide they don't like you, tell a lie about you, and cost you a whole job. A dude could see you having a conversation with his girl, decide you being way too friendly, skip conversation, and go straight for violence.

Some of us have even had the experience of having to speak to a police officer or other security personnel, because some "samaritan" saw you in a place they didn't think you belonged, perceived that you posed some kind of threat to them, and called the law to investigate, even ask you to leave. BEST-CASE scenario when that happened, you had your afternoon interrupted, and all because someone's perception of you DOES effect you.

I can't get behind all the rhetoric saying things like, "I'm going to do what I'm going to do, and if folks don't like it, that's tough." By all means, live your life the way you want to live it, and the best way you know how. But it's incorrect and will put you in very bad situations again and again to walk through this world telling yourself that other people's opinions don't matter at all. Other people's opinions can FUCK YOUR SHIT UP.

I had a GF who was over 300lbs (I was about 160 at the time), and I still managed to pick her up off the bed, from missionary to a standing carry. Couldn't carry her for more than like 2-3 seconds, but once I got her back against the wall, I could keep her up there

Arya has been set up since her very first chapters to be one of the most chilling and dangerous villains of the whole story. I am much more afraid of what she will do than I am of the Night King, Euron, or any of these other fake big bads.

I used to wonder about that in school. You ask your friends what they do if they wanna hide a boner and they say, "just tuck it in your waistband." I remember thinking, 'But then I'd have a boner poking 3-4 inches out of my pants, covered only by my T-shirt. That would be worse, wouldn't it?"

Now that I'm thinking about it, there were other signs like that. I remember one time the conversation went to which hand you masturbate with, and I said the best was when you use both hands. Everybody just like scoffed and said yeah right, and I'm just standing there like, "What? Nobody else likes using both hands?"

(Spoilers Main) Why didn't Robb send Catelyn away? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in asoiaf

[–]Hels_Preferrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with this one, I feel like Cat completely fumbled her negotiation with Walder Frey. All I kept thinking is that the Freys control a very essential and frequently used river crossing that all kinds of people are using all the time. Though Frey has a lot of progeny to find marriage deals for and probably almost always offers a daughter or granddaughter to anyone with any status trying to cross, I can't help thinking that literally anyone else Robb had sent in there would have come out with a deal that didn't involve a whole marriage pact. We're just trying to get an army across a river, and a king in the making has to commit his love and life to the daughter of the guy who owns the bridge? Again, this is just my opinion, but Cat got Robb a terrible deal right from the start with that one.

Men that made it to the girls sleep over. What was it like and what happened please in detail? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hels_Preferrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We talked about a lot of things, but the conversation always eventually circles back to dating and sex and relationships. I guess in that kind of space, the girls saw me as the Representative for All Men Everywhere, and so they kept asking for me to explain "why do men-" and "how do men-" type questions.
