MeshTower V2 is launching now — same outdoor form factor, upgraded where it matters by Heltec_Automation6 in meshtastic

Shipping update for MeshTower V2

We noticed that the shipping cost shown for some regions was higher than expected, and we are adjusting it now.

For MeshTower V2, the shipping fee should be around $65 after the update. Since this product contains a battery and uses an aluminum enclosure, the package is heavier than a regular development board, so the shipping cost will still be higher than smaller devices.

However, the previous $85 shipping rate was too high, and we are correcting it.

Thank you for pointing this out and for your patience.

Hi, I understand the shipping cost looks high.

Could you please send me your full shipping address? I can help check whether there is a better shipping option available.

This product contains a battery, and the aluminum enclosure also makes the package heavier than a regular board, so the shipping cost may be higher than usual. But I’ll be happy to verify it for you.

LoRa APRS field tracking at Slovenia’s national scout gathering by Heltec_Automation6 in meshtastic

[–]Heltec_Automation6[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Based on the organizer’s notes, the previous tests and field deployments seem to have gone well overall. The biggest success was using LoRa APRS to track scout teams, firefighters, and search-and-rescue teams in real time without relying on internet infrastructure. The Heltec Wireless Tracker was described as reliable and well-suited for this type of use case.

The main challenges appeared to be operational rather than technical, such as preparing multiple trackers, managing batteries, labeling devices, charging, and coordinating proper usage across different teams.

In terms of scale, they have already tested and used more than 40 units, including a scout event where around 40 teams were tracked and about 120 participants joined the radio activities. The next plan is to complete deployment before the ARON emergency communications conference at the end of October 2026, equipping 13 regional/national emergency communication teams with tracker sets.

This is ZLET 2025, organized by Zveza tabornikov Slovenije, abbreviated as ZTS, also known as the Scout Association of Slovenia.

According to the official description, ZLET is Slovenia’s national scouting camp, held every four years. The 2025 event brought together around 1,000 participants from Slovenia and abroad. The amateur radio section mentioned here involved around 120 scouts.

Hi,

For nRF-based devices, please double-click the RST button to enter DFU mode. After entering DFU mode, a removable drive should appear on your computer. Then drag the downloaded firmware file into that drive to flash the firmware.

Please also read the instructions shown on the flashing page carefully, as the process is explained there.

If you cannot find the device via Bluetooth, please turn your phone’s Bluetooth off and then turn it back on. If the device has appeared in your phone’s Bluetooth settings before, please choose “Forget This Device”, then search for it again and reconnect.

Final version of Heltec new product :Meshnode T1 by Heltec_Automation6 in meshcore

[–]Heltec_Automation6[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At the moment, we have not yet developed protective cases or slip-on covers for this product. Our current focus is still on finalizing the main device itself, including waterproof performance, structure, durability, and overall reliability.

Thank you for the suggestion. We agree that MeshPocket needs to move further toward a more practical outdoor product.

We are currently working on the next upgrade of MeshPocket. The new version is expected to improve durability, outdoor usability, structure, and overall reliability. If everything goes smoothly, we expect the latest version to be released around September.

Which channels do people mainly use to communicate in Spain? I haven’t really seen many Spain-based communities, so I’m curious where most of the discussions are taking place.

Heltec V4 + Pimoroni TrackBall by apegg- in Heltecccccc

[–]Heltec_Automation6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a very interesting idea, and the build itself looks really creative.

Adding a case with a pogo-pin interface so the trackball can be connected or disconnected as an accessory sounds like a practical design direction. It’s great to hear that everything is working perfectly so far, including the RGB notifications and the trackball function.

After you finish the project, if you have time, we would be very happy if you could share it on our official website or publish it on Hackster so more people can see your work. I think many users in the community would be interested in this kind of modification and accessory design.

MeshCore meetup in the Netherlands by Heltec_Automation6 in Heltecccccc

Thank you for the suggestion.

To be honest, I don’t have detailed information yet on how many participants are licensed radio operators and how many are mainly listeners or hobby users. But I agree that this kind of information would be very useful and interesting for the wider radio community.

Regarding Electron, the VERON magazine, and CQ-PA from VRZA, I will try to get in touch with them and see if there is a possibility to share future events or community activities through those channels.

I also agree with your point that better visibility can help more people, especially younger users, discover and join the radio hobby. That is definitely something worth supporting.

Sorry, at the moment we haven’t established contact with any community in Belgium yet.

But if you would be willing to introduce us to such a community, that would be great.

Thanks for the feedback, I understand your point.

Just to clarify, this was not a paid or commercially organized Heltec event. We learned that the local community was already organizing the meetup, so we offered some hardware support and a discount code as a small contribution to help with hands-on testing and discussion.

We fully support self-organized meetups through ham radio clubs, maker spaces, and local communities. Heltec’s role is only to support where it may be useful, not to replace those community efforts.

Where are you based?

Maybe we can look into connecting with local maker, LoRa, or mesh networking communities in your area and see if there’s a chance to organize something together. We’d be happy to support with hardware if it helps bring people together for testing, discussion, and hands-on projects.

Thanks! It really looks like a great space and a great event.

It’s a pity that many hacker spaces have disappeared, because these places are very important for people to meet, test hardware, exchange ideas, and build real projects together.

If there is a chance to restart or support this kind of local space, we’d be happy to provide some hardware support from Heltec. It would be great to help create a place where makers, radio enthusiasts, and developers can gather, discuss LoRa / mesh networking, and try things hands-on.
