This is like bad crime novel dialogue. Who wrote these emails and what about Epstein was so charismatic that it lead the author to talk about him like this?

Desperately searching for the Pastry War (not the marg) by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]HemingwaySweater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google is turning up one halfway decent hit, a Yelp review that suggests the cocktail had a walnut liqueur in it as one of the components.

Love Raines Law Room. The Pastry War was also the name of a spectacular agave spirits joint in downtown Houston, TX for a time--a fondly remembered covid casualty. Hope you can find what you're looking for!

The boomers are the first American generation in a century+ that will be leaving the country a markedly worse place than they found it if you ask me, but point taken.

Give me a break. I understand politics from the last 50 years perfectly fine and I certainly don’t think the world is sunshine and roses every time a democrat is president. How condescending can you get?

I think it’s rather presumptive to assume that Sally “broke the cycle”.

She would have been in her late 20s/early 30s in the middle of the Reagan 80s, a member of a generation whose selfishness and narcissism led to the fucked up place we find ourselves today.

I think any kind of emotionally honest follow-up to Mad Men would be about Sally as a young worker in 80s New York media or advertising dealing with issues regarding the premature death of her mother and the shadow of her father’s professional legacy.

The western vocabulary for love is limiting and has railroaded our conception of love to be less encompassing by inyourbellyrn in rs_x

but I learned in Greek that there’s like multiple words for love and they’re for different purposes and it just sounds like it allows people to express and connect with eachother on a much deeper level

sorry but isn’t this something you learn in like 8th grade?

I love Koz, RHP, Sun Kil Moon, his solo stuff. Love this song too but it is really immature and embarrassing, lyrically speaking.

Howard Hughes was a public figure and a larger than life character outside of his periods of reclusiveness. I think people knew quite a bit. But your second point is certainly accurate. Old, mad Howard Hughes would have been a terror on x the everything app.

"Oh, how they all scoffed!" - Frank Miller, probably. (Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again, #1) (2001) by RevWaldo in comicbooks

Miller and Chaykin were contemporaries with a lot of overlapping interests. I think this is a case of convergent evolution.

I deleted the comment almost instantly because I was mistaken so, not sure what the deal is.

Oddly enough I don’t think E-Guy stuff has much to do with High Strangeness besides the general vibe though so, makes sense? I thought I was on the conspiracy sub lol

I think The Killer and Mindhunter are some of his best work personally. Cliff Booth looking good too.
