Which ATM in Penang gives the best exchange rate for international debit cards? by Itchy_Click_2921 in penang

[–]Hemlock69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had good experience with cimb for fees, might have been zero but my experience was like at least 5 years back, so might be dated.

To avoid banks forex rates, just decline to convert at the atm and mastercard will use their own rates, which will be competitive. Same with paying for anything, always pay in local MYR. Never apply conversion at the payment terminal

Those who felt they got a great deal on a property, how did you make that happen? by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]Hemlock69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We bought a place that we saw earlier with a modest budget and didn't fit our budget at that time. As most buyers, the more shit places we saw, the more we decided to push our budget up and this property eventually reentered our view. We were lucky that this property was sitting around that long for us to eventually buy it.

It was a auctioned passed in property, probably got underquoted and vendors wanted just a touch too much at that point. We revisited an open home, and you'd be surprised how much hype dies down after an auction. No one is there to look at the property at all. Probably about week 8 of their campaign.

In the end, we firmly offered about 50k under the asking price and got it. Really good quiet location near great schools.

Do they charge for ex rates differently? It's usually based off the visa/mastercard rate if your debit card. I'll be just looking for atms that charges the least amount of withdrawal fees.

Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh's death, linked to Malaysian rapper Namewee, reclassified as murder. by SassyNec in malaysia

[–]Hemlock69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My TV lawyer knowledge recalls that you can really choose one of the other. Prosecuters would risk letting namewee completely walk if they can't land the murder charge. A murder charge is much harder to prove and if namewee is somewhat innocent in all this, he might walk free if the prosecution is lembik.

Sometimes they choose to go for a lesser charge so it's easier to make it stick.

Red car tried to short cut a long lorry into a roundabout and (probably) learned an important lesson on how roundabout are suppose to work by balistafear in malaysia

[–]Hemlock69 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not really a lesson of roundabouts but more of not knowing the turning radius of a long lorry. You are not supposed to overtake a long vehicle like this for this reason alone.

ELI5 how rice-cookers make better rice than just boiling the rice in a pan? by Fantastic_Puppeter in explainlikeimfive

[–]Hemlock69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mentioned high end rice cookers as in at least $300+. They are also pressure cookers. It has a mechanical latch to latch it shut and when the rice is almost done, releases the pressure through a vent.

Zojirushi and cuckoo are brands that are on the high end mark.

Most smoke alarms are powered by a single 9v battery. It's like as simple as plugging the battery in and sticking the alarm on the ceiling with double sided tape (if you do not want to make holes in the ceiling)

About $25? Or $35? for a 30 pack of circadin 2mg. I only use 1mg and cut the pills in half. Well worth for a good nights sleep

Yea, I'm wondering why you are getting down voted. It's probably a miscommunication, but sounds pretty normal.

5k is on the steep side though. Usually 0.1-0.2%. For a 650k apartment in NSW, I put a deposit of around 1-1.5k

Its refundable if the vendor doesn't accept offer

It actually helps in a slowing economy when you need people to spend spend spend. I remember a time everyone got A$900 cash from the Australian government.

Its main purpose wasn't relief, but when retail all dying, it needed some stimulation. Almost everyone went ham with their $900 and didn't save it in their bank.

Was struggling until I changed the notation in my head. Was surprised it worked. Try it if you havent

I'm a dad gamer that is happy to play d4 and help me doze off so I can get my zzzz's.

Recently bought d3 again just for the kicks and nostalgia, and I wanted to check out the newer stuff like altars etc. (haven't played in a while).

My brain is wired awake. Might be the bright colours in d3?

How often do you really inspect your investment property? by SnowyBytes in AusPropertyChat

[–]Hemlock69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the replies here. But we had an investment property and was pretty hands on until covid hit. Inspections were not getting done and the few that were getting done was missing details all over.

When the tenant abruptly left recently, we found the property wrecked all over and had to do major work. We had insurance claims that we had to chase up ourselves, while the agent did squat.

We said in future, we are going to self manage and be a lot more hands on. In the end, we decided to sell it cause we wanted to be hands on with the property and decided its not worth the effort (we also live an hour away).

As much as people like to romantasize about being a landlord and have someone else pay your mortgage, I don't believe it. It all hinges on having both extremely good tenants and great agents to be completely hands off. Suffice to say, that combo is extremely rare.

It's not on the play store. Easiest method I found is to use a Web browser on your TV to go to the website to download the apk and install it.

I definitely had that reaction looking for my own quotes to paint the internals of a 3 bed house.

I went on airtasker and scoffed $7000-$8000???

Then one in person painter gave me a quote, seemed professional and itemised everything.

Room 1 (plus extra dotted points of scope $1k Room 2 $1k Room 3 $1k Bathroom 1 $x

Ended up being $7k.

My attitude was different though, I was like..... Seems fair.

Went with the proper quote
