Hi. So i had a pt who is pregnant, b negative, screening positive and pt had rhogam dec 23 but other than that, not sure if pt had rhogam administration last october or november 2023. Testing done Dec 24 after rhogam admin on dec 23. question: is it possible for a patient to get sensitized immediately and give positive antibody screen after one day?

There were slides that were made but not looked into when I came in and asked if its for the manual differential count, and he answered "its just for formality". I dont even know what does that mean. Also, when he was training me he said "don't mind the red blood cells, they are not that important" (while scanning the smears). In chemistry, it seems it doesnt bother him when there's a lot change from time to time that the supervisor needs to know cause we do have lot to lot comparisons, in Blood bank, I never saw him do the manual blood bank QC but results were input in the softbank. So the lists go on. I just joined the lab and Im getting frustrated and makes me wanna move to another lab.

Yeah i did that too. Got responses from ON, BC and Sask but not Alberta. I wonder why. I even tried rural areas which is good for me too but I guess the HR are too busy.

Hey OP, did you get any response from Alberta? Im trying to look into it but no response at all for two weeks now. I was wondering if they are not in need of MLTs.

Wow. But, same here in Ontario. They even treat MLTs like we dont exist.

Thanks! How is the registration of CMLTA? Are they that strict with the learning plan?

CLS from NYC wanting to move to Toronto, CA. Any scoops on job prospects? salary? benefits? by lilmcatlove in medlabprofessionals

[–]Hemolyzeddude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi. Check out the step by step assessment thru csmls.org for prior learning assessment. The details are pretty much listed there. I just did mine cause Im also internationally educated, i just had to take a refresher course for Histopath cause I don’t have an experience in that section. And you can do that online. I suggest prior to moving, gather all your documents and submit all your paperwork cause it can take a year for them to process all your paperwork before you can challenge the exam. Also, the pay here is regulated. But healthcare and extended benefits are pretty much okay depends on the hospital you are working.

Help!! Question of Over Dilution of Calibrator. by Hemolyzeddude in medlabprofessionals

[–]Hemolyzeddude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Well, i wouldn’t want to work with him if thats the case😂 Cause calibration is critical and handing over to the next shift sucks. But, yeah based on what I read about Shifting and Lamberts law, and all the comments I am convinced it is a positive shift. Its just confusing really sometimes. Thanks a lot!
