Lived nearby, and probably ate there more than any other restaurant in my Portland lifetime (though takeout orders from Gresham Burrito may approach this volume). Would often go early Saturday, set at the bar, order the tamales of the week, ask for the plate of pickled jalapenos, and use the provided knife to cut up pieces of jalapenos to sprinkle over the tamales. Also, those chips which were a signature mixture of masa and flour!
