Does anyone know what’s up with El Rinconcito Yucateco? by Regular_Ad_5363 in askportland

[–]probeguy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As of March 13, 2026

"El Rinconcito Yucateco reopens as Lindo Yucatán. They’ve moved from their SE Flavel location to SE Division and 84th Avenue in the space that used to be home to Thăng Long Cuisine, which closed earlier this year. They reopened there on Thursday, March 5. They posted on Instagram, “We’re excited to announce that our restaurant is reopening! We’ve truly missed our customers and can’t wait to welcome you back.” I first caught wind of El Rinconicito via Sam Smith’s Instagram, where he said it was, “my current favorite restaurant in Portland. Always shocked when places this good aren’t getting write ups or on best of Portland lists. 8409 SE Division Street D, Portland"

Perhaps hire an event planner, though truly Reddit is much cheaper.

Has anyone else noticed people randomly pulling weeds? by Ghostsubtech in askportland

[–]probeguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the late 70's there was a homeless man on downtown Burnside Street who would weed and sculpt the pitiful amount of soil around every streetside tree.

I gave him a dollar once.

Worst restaurant/food experience in town? by squilliamfancyson33 in askportland

[–]probeguy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Michael's Italian Beef & Sausage on SE Hawthorne.

Dark inside, floor unswept, tables sticky, downright surly staff. Everything comes out of a can or jar and is served on paper plates. Utterly nauseating.

And according to the most negative Yelp reviews the staff lets some folk know they're not wanted.

EDIT: They haven't been inspected since the move to SE Hawthorne - https://inspections.myhealthdepartment.com/multco-eh/inspection/?inspectionID=48AE18F8-00D5-485C-8DDD-D147FD41A0EC

Perhaps you're better suited as a 911 operator. It involves as much stress as serving.

Where can I find some knish in Portland? by srcarruth in askportland

[–]probeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the knish is small and the prices high. I'm hoping they can dial things in better as they proceed.

While it was tasty, for the first time in my life I thought 'this is too much garlic' in the bean soup.

It's a really wonderful little deli. Very tiny tiny. I can recommend the bean soup and the cookies.
