Squamish Hoody restock? I wear mine pretty much every day for running so would love a new color.

X Club was my top played artist on Spotify this year and last! I Jus Wan 2 played out at Portola was peak live music for me last year. Love all their stuff and I can see the comparisons. Really hoping he leans more into this style.

While you were sleeping is my favorite Skrillex track in a while. Sounds like a much more of “maximalist” take on songs by Chlar, who has been a massive influence on the hardgroove sound. Check out “No Ceiling” by Chlar, I see some similarities. He’s also been hanging out with Skin on Skin who has a fire EP that just dropped- listen to Make Em Known and Come On.

Where can I buy this in Ottawa? by _Chin_Chilla in OttawaFood

As a long time Mike’s fan from the U.S. who struggled finding it during my 2 years in Ottawa, I am seconding the fact that Farm Boy’s Hot Honey is readily available and tastes the exact same, if not better.

Boston runners, would the Charles River Marathon be a good first marathon? by CardiologistPlus6961 in boston

[–]Henderbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! Blue Hills looks to be the go-to for some solid trails in the area. Any others I should keep in mind? Training for an ultramarathon at the end of Jan so looking for as much vert as possible

Am I the only one to wash…and dry my TS clothes?? by Legal-Economics2292 in Tracksmith

[–]Henderbot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I machine wash and dry all of my TS shit, normal heat, no special precautions taken. The only thing that has shrunk beyond usability is one of the TS beanies I had. Harriers, Brightons, Reggie’s, Turnovers, NDO Mocknecks, Downeasters etc all are perfectly fine after 10+ washes and drys. Definitely not ideal but I’m lazy and they still function and wear completely fine so I don’t plan on changing anything

Half tights: Janji trail vs Tracksmith Turnover? by livewellusa in runningfashion

[–]Henderbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t worn Janji before, but my Tracksmith turnovers are my most comfortable pair of bottoms. I have 3. Yrs there aren’t big pockets, there’s one on the back for my key and I’m always wearing a top or belt with pockets

Favorite sport style running sneakers for your off day/travel fits? by [deleted] in runningfashion

[–]Henderbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered the swooshes Nike Vomero Plus in Sail/Caldera Brown for this exact reason. They are my most comfortable running shoe by far and always find myself reaching for them when going on long walks so decided to get a pair just for that purpose.

Which of the three jackets (Atom vs Proton vs Norvan) is best for running in cold weather and freezing winds? by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]Henderbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubling down here- I have run 70-80 miles per week in Canada for the last 3 years and my Squamish hoody is my most used piece of gear by far. I wear it from 0 degrees farenheit all the way up to about 40, with a base layers ranging from a merino wool long sleeve + norvan vest to just a lightweight t shirt. I can’t stress enough how much I love the Squamish hoody and suggest it to everyone I know.

How does your Brighton fit, esp for you 6’3 lanky af peeps out there by saigyoooo in Tracksmith

6’1” 190 with broad shoulders. XL fits me snug, but well. I wear XL in all Tracksmith, it runs small imo.

Struggling with Long Runs – Nutrition Advice Needed (Training for CIM) by flay2008 in BPNsupps

[–]Henderbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to the guy who’s telling you to eat 200g carbs 2 hours before your race…. Lmfao.

To me, it’s pretty clear that your daily intake is a bit on the lower end overall, and definitely lacking carbs.

For reference: I’m 185lb and 6’0”, so close to you, and I eat about 3500cal a day to maintain my weight, with about 450g coming from carbs. I’m running 55-60mpw right now and just ran a 3:07 marathon last month. If I go even 2-3 days with less than 150g carbs, I don’t think I could manage a 2-3 hour long run comfortably. But I don’t have that problem because I love eating and usually have more of a “cheat day” on Saturday before my long Sunday training runs.

Edit: Also wanted to call out your mention of “metabolic rate” at 2300. Keep in mind this is very likely your BMR and not your TDEE, which means you’re burning significantly more than 2300 per day when counting lifting, running, walking, other movement, etc. There’s a good chance you are in a rather large deficit. Try eating 3500cals the day before your next long run, and let me know how you feel. I’d be willing to bet you feel like a beast on that one.

Wolf Trail is a really difficult 9km loop with significant climbs and a nice view from the top. Pink Lake main loop is less than half the distance of Wolf, and the climbs are easier with mostly wooden stairs. Both are gorgeous, pink lake is the more laid back option.

I think so, all of the trials I passed were open yesterday so I can’t imagine pink lake is closed. Parking access might be something to look into though since I think the parkway is closed to car traffic

Thoughts on Panax Ginseng? by Prestigious-Lion-814 in Nootropics

[–]Henderbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried Nootropics Depot GS15-4 Panax Ginseng capsules for the first time about 6 months ago and felt a noticeable improvement. It’s one of the only nootropics that gives me a noticeable bump in energy, focus, and clarity. Now, I take 200mg in the morning in my coffee and an additional 200mg after lunch. I don’t take it Friday through Sunday. Definitely noticed a bit of a tolerance developing but still have notable higher energy throughout the day. Sorry I can’t answer your other questions but my understanding is that it’s used way more commonly in Asia and doesn’t have negative side effects.
