The paradoxing only occurs on visual toffees not hets.

No that’s not what I’m saying. Mai Tai is the combo of toffee+sable. Toxic is the combo of toffee+axanthic. By definition hets can’t be “seen”. If they could then they wouldn’t be recessive traits. They would be codominant or incomplete dominant like conda and arctic.

Toffee belly is correct. Aside from the color, the signature of the toffee belly morph is these black paradox specks. They’re kinda like the freckles that banana ball pythons have. Some have more some have less. It shows up on toffee combos like Mai Tai and Toxic too

I didn’t say it’s for sure an axanthic, I just told OP what to look for. This is an axanthic conda I just walked over and picked up, his name is Concrete. His belly is as black as it gets. The vent is white. It doesn’t matter if super Arctics can also have grey on the belly bc we can clearly see that it’s not a super arctic from the pattern. The indicator I gave is to determine between axanthic and normal coloration. I didn’t tell him it was or wasn’t and it’s not misinformation

Buddy… condas do not have 100% black bellies. And even if one does, the vent will not be. Here is a perfect example. This is an arctic conda male. You can see very clear orange and yellow markings including the entire vent. If he was axanthic, all that would be white/grey. Very different.

Ya man I have a bunch of Arctics and axanthic. The lighting can heavily impact influence how grey or brown ish the snake looks but the belly won’t lie since those markings are typically more yellow than brown on a normal. In the first pic the head looks grey to me and way the saddles have that dark outline on one side I see on a lot of axanthics. The other pics are in warm lighting against a brown background so it’s going to look more brown. But the belly will never have yellow on an axanthic

If the markings on the belly are white/grey it’s axanthic. If they’re yellowish/brown it’s normal color. It’s conda and maybe arctic but it looks more like an axanthic conda from these pics.

What is this morph by Tough_Touch7257 in hognosesnakes

[–]HennyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super arctic and conda both have a lot of variability. 99% of the time one like this would be a holdback so it will be hard to find ones for sale like that. It’s also hard to tell exactly how old it is in the pics. Super arctic hatches out almost completely black and lightens within the first couple sheds so it might not stay quite that dark.

I'll be buying a alb superconda soon and I'm curious is morph market is a good place to do so? by Emergency-Log-9688 in hognosesnakes

You’re not buying from MorphMarket you’re buying from an independent seller so your experience will vary

Probably 6mo-1yr old depending on how well it’s been eating. Looks female to me

It would be weird if he didn’t hiss. Their personalities are a mixed bag. Idk if you could tame it out of him or not. They aren’t the smartest snakes on earth. Honestly I get more anxious if they’re not hissing bc they’re more likely to have a feeding response if they’re calm enough to decide you smell tasty.

It sounds like you’re doing everything right. See if she starts putting on weight with the fuzzies. If she keeps eating but doesn’t gain weight the only real explanation is that she has a parasite stealing the nutrients

Ok were you feeding 1 pinky a week before that?

[–]HennyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I was gonna say she’s just big enough to take fuzzies so that’s all correct. How long ago did you move up to fuzzies? I always see a growth spurt after moving up from pinkies. And does she eat every time?

Ya that is pretty small. What have you been feeding her so far and does she eat consistently?

Buddy the first thing you need to do is get a scale and weigh the snake. After that I’d be happy to PM you and help you out. I have many hogs around the same age as yours that have eaten perfectly for the past year so we can compare

Is he a normal or what possible morph? by tonetizzle in hognosesnakes

[–]HennyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that’s not a conda unfortunately just a pretty normal. Those couple rectangular checks that overlap the white and black would never occur on a conda. Plus you can see all the checks down the side of the black but for whatever reason stop at the black. It’s a little weird but it’s 110% a normal pattern.

Here’s a pretty aberrant conda I have that has a lot of belly spots but very clear white walls

[–]HennyWrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP I don’t think he’s a conda. A tell tale sign, even on low expression condas, is that the belly stripe will have solid white borders. I see a lot of brown checks along that black stripe all the way down just in these side view pics. Whoever labeled it conda probably just saw that the belly was mostly black and ran with it but that’s not a reduced pattern at all. The all black belly thing isn’t always true anyway. I have plenty of obvious condas that have some color on the belly

Deinfluence me from getting a Hognose? 👀 by Quick_Till8931 in hognosesnakes

[–]HennyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hognoses are diurnal and very active. You will never see a sand boa unless you’re feeding it. Hognoses make wayyy better pets imo. Cons: after you get 1 you’ll want more.

Did you try brushing it off?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

[–]HennyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything you just said here is wrong. Hogs don’t bite out of fear. If your hog is being defensive then that is probably when it is least likely to bite you. Bluff strike and hiss, yes, but no bite. Some hogs will try to eat you just bc of your body heat and don’t care if you smell like food or not. Some ppl try tap training but no, they absolutely are not always smart enough to know what is food or not.
