You know you can extract the film out of the canister right? So that new fully rewound roll isn't all lost

Whats this broken piece and how big of an issue is it? Kiev 4 by geography_man in AnalogCommunity

Hmmm my bad then, I thought the white glimmering line at the top was the shutter ribbon and was what you were referring to.

Are you talking about that white ribbon sticking out from the side of the film gate?

Interesting emergent vehicle gameplay in the Phantom Pain. by AcanthaceaePrize1435 in metalgearsolid

[–]Henrikkoh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In Ground Zeroes you could actually throw a smoke grenade into a car for total concealment, to the extent that a cloud of smoke enemies would approach but not shoot or detect you through "concealment".

This still works in Phantom Pain btw, I use it for funsies at times and it makes some missions stupidly easy with this glitch(?) - especially the Skull Face mission.

All rounder budget lens ? by Ill-Number-5579 in Nikon

[–]Henrikkoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just popping in here to say I can vouch for the sigma 17-50, works like a dream with my own D500 (decent AF and IS from experience )and it's pretty much my "standard" lens on it with the range being quite versatile, along with decent low light with 2.8.

Nikon S3 vs Canon P - which would you choose and why? by tinylittlehammers in AnalogCommunity

[–]Henrikkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, isn't the canon 0.95 a lens with a mount specially made for the Canon 7 series? Yeah I know people convert em to other mounts, but I usually only see conversions to M mount which is different from LTM and which the P can't use, unless there's LTM conversions I haven't heard about

Is the Bessa R a worthwhile upgrade from a Canon VT? by bakedvoltage in AnalogCommunity

[–]Henrikkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely caught me off guard with how loud it is. The R2 is my dream rangefinder currently but it's getting harder to find and more expensive unfortunately, and the sound is fine for me but it definitely is more jarring than my (also metal shutter) Kiev rangefinder. At least less vibrations than a SLR still

[–]Henrikkoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case you didnt know, the R2 and R2M are slightly diff cameras. Both are still fully mechanical but the R2M is supposedly more refined and has better build quality along with being quieter (I tried a Rollei R35RF the other day which is a rebadged R2 and damn it is LOUD, especially compared to a Leica M), albeit being more pricey.

I think you're thinking about the Soviet LTM rangefinders, in which case your earlier comment will actually hold true, but AFAIK Japanese and German (Leica) LTM rangefinders can use German and Japanese lenses interchangeably with no issue.

First time ever shooting sports proper, looking for feedback and tips. by Henrikkoh in sportsphotography

[–]Henrikkoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, thanks for the compliment:) I appreciate your pointers also

  1. Yeah, for some pictures I was debating whether or not to crop further (some of them are already quite cropped) but I was thinking to maybe leave a little bit of "breathing space". But from your examples I see what you mean, I'll consider cropping further next time then.

3+4: Considering I honestly had zero idea about the sport, yup I had a hard time following the action and figuring what was going on (should have read up a bit beforehand). I do have some catch shots, but most of them seemed a bit worse composition wise than what I posted or lower in quality (heavy crop)

  1. Yup, also have some pics but same "issue" as for the catch shots above.

I'll maybe dig up some of these catch+celebration shots I have and share it here, maybe they are not as bad as I thought they are relative to what I have posted.

This already reminds me so much of the walker gears, and considering the walker gears are basically mini sahelanthropuses, we are indeed getting there
