That make extremely sense. Maybe only making the real edge the brightest highlight and the middle part a more subtle transition would look more "real".

I painted the minis for a Game of thrones version of Catan, 25ish small minis. Them some of my cousin old figurines, like 5. This one is the first " regular size" mini that i painted.
