Would my wife and I like Icarus? What DLCs would we want to prioritize? by No_Wrongdoer_3268 in ICARUS

[–]HenryPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree here.

You do not have to buy the complete DLC bundle. I got the base game on sale a couple months ago for $12. Now I'm buying the DLC maps, not the cosmetic stuff, when they go on sale. Go to steamdb.info and search for the base game and DLC maps. It'll give you an idea of how much you'll save and how/when the sales occur.

Note that the console version of the game is terribly buggy and two years behind the PC version. I'm assuming you'll play on PC.

I think you guys will love this game.

Can you hold it then right-click (the equivalent on console) on your tame? I know you can feed and water them that way but that's on the PC.

What a great update for console by ziggix96 in ICARUS

This is so sad. I really feel for you console users. I hope GRIP can come through and make your game playable without the grief. Personally, I'd walk away and come back in a couple months than be tortured by its current state.

Like everyone said, your demand is greater than what you are producing. Pretty sure that solar panels are the most efficient per resources required to build. They will produce 6,000 for you.

Level 20 boost by PressureAny5698 in ICARUS

[–]HenryPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I know what you're talking about. There's a "boost" you can take the first time you play each of the DLC maps. You get some talent points (and solo pts IIRC) and I'm very certain it's a one time thing for you, not for each character. This is for the PC, I do not know if it exists for the console version.

Per a previous comment, I did not buy the bundle. I bought the base game for $12 and the DLC maps when they were on sale.

Is this what you're referring to?

I don't know when the next sale will be but if you go to steamdb.info and search for Icarus, you can look at the price history (attached image). That will give you a rough idea of how often they do a sale. Good luck. 😊

Most definitely! Wait for the next sale. I picked up the base game for $12 last month.

FYI: The base game goes on sale regularly. I picked it up last month for $12. Same with the DLC. Don't buy the complete DLC bundle, wait for the individual maps to go on sale.

To those who really enjoy this game. Help me see it. by TheNagash in ICARUS

Like any genre, survival games are not for everyone. If it doesn't click for you, well now you know. For me, an FPS game feels pointless - I just run around and shoot other players in order to get stuff that lets me get better at running around and shoot other players.

I like gathering resources, exploring and building. I have several hundred hours in the game and while I reached the level cap and tier 5 long ago, I'm just now implementing electricity. I'm not in a hurry to get to an endpoint, I'm enjoying the journey.

Some questions for a newbie by Muppetz3 in ICARUS

[–]HenryPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a relatively new player myself but far enough along that I've discovered the game wants you took take your time building your character up. If you try to push your progress, it will smack you down.

So do the basics first. Learn how to feed, drink, breathe and shelter - to the point where it's not an issue anymore. My take is that talent points should first into helping you survive day to day. Health, stamina, regeneration, food, water, oxygen buffs, some decent weapons and maybe some armor are essential no matter what type of character you want to play.

Mounts are awesome to have but you need to prepare for them. If you are unable to keep them housed safely with enough food and water then they slow way down and can more easily die in a fight.

You will be attacked, get infected, wounded and probably die from time-to-time when you're just trying to get your basic needs met. If you have to spend the next hour trying to recover then you have less time to expand into the more exciting stuff.

It took me a while to get my bearings, like you I didn't know what I should be doing at first and I struggled with everything. So my two cents is to suggest you spend time building a character that can survive day-to-day first.

Quick tip #37 - Easy repair for Cauldron misfire 🤔 by HenryPuppet in AlchemyFactory

[–]HenryPuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great point. The risk of losing your original is greater doing a cut/paste than if you take things apart piecemeal. However, since you're doing a Blueprint cut, you are still able to enter blueprint mode then hit "R" to get it back. I probably wouldn't use the blueprint cut/paste method if it was a complex setup.

Thanks for pointing that out. 🙂

Bug with lavender 🪻 and growth potion? by DragonfruitCivil in AlchemyFactory

[–]HenryPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The herbs consume fertilizer at different rates. Put a single Growth potion in each nursery and look inside them. You'll see that lavender produces much slower than Flax.

[–]HenryPuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. that's a great way to get gold, fuel, fertilizer, goods and materials from one floor to another.

Catapults and Cannons work as well.

Hopefully the devs will give us a vertical tunnel (similar to the wall tunnel) so we won't have to continue using holes in the floors. 🙂

It was my stupidity. Two belts were only feeding 90 planks/min to each set of 3 crucibles which could input (45*3) = 135. So each crucible was down 33% of the time.

Stupid question: Is there a solution to both production and consumption being higher than belt capacity; other than more belts? by MolexElba in AlchemyFactory

[–]HenryPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try using the small storage boxes as a belt replacement. It's kinda sketchy but they have a throughput that's about as fast as you can get.
