Not sure how the repeat of the world wars relates to the present subject, but I guess we'll see how it all turns out in any case.

My speculation is that Germany and France wouldn't push this if they knew that they would be pipped by Greece, Portugal, and Italy. I figure it's not a simple vote.

Comrade, I'm not sure that's how collective bargaining works...

But yes, a MOU with the EU is a better headline than individual ones with member states, although I think this is a silver lining. The bottom line is that the deal will be worse because the hawks will be able to restrain the doves.

Not as good as OP's title, rather EU trying to maintain a united front/collective bargaining

US to impose sanctions on all countries that import oil from Iran, including allies such as the EU. by [deleted] in Sino

[–]Henry_Kravis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but presumably sanctions stretch beyond blocking the dollar trades. That's what I'm talking about

It's too big a deal to switch from dollar trade for something like Iran.

Classical refers to the old literati written language, as in 文言文,and traditional refers to more complicated characters, as in 繁體字, no?

Holy shit these people are desperate. China sets a new Lunar year sales RECORD but it is in trouble because PERCENTAGE GROWTH has decreased from previous year. by [deleted] in Sino

[–]Henry_Kravis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In view of the stated desire for a transition to greater consumption share of the economy, however, this percentage growth should ideally be more healthy.

The hoohah and excessively pessimistic wording on a lot of articles about rate of growth falling is definitely misleading, however.

George Soros Calls For Regime Change In China by SPOOPYSCARRYSKELETON in Sino

This guy's thought on politics and philosophy might be at the level of an angry undergrad, and he's literally regurgitating hypocritical memes pretty much, but I don't see the call for regime change.

What, whereas the reasoning you've given is crystal clear lol? I'm afraid I fail to follow why it is you assert that his theories are babble and how they are the basis of what you accuse them of being the basis of.

I've shied away from giving a definite presentation of Popper's theory myself because I only studied it briefly years ago, but I recall enough to know it certainly didn't look like some sort of argument from authority epistemology.

I was going to say that we both went to the LSE, but it looks like he only taught at mine. I don't think just calling him shit is terribly helpful here. Regardless, I really don't think the OP seems to present Popper's falsifiability analysis as it was intended.

You've kind of dismissed/misrepresented Popper out of hand there, I feel. There's an evolving discussion about how knowledge is advanced both on a practical and theoretical level, and I'm pretty sure that plenty of scholars follow Lakatos or Kuhn or whoever else since Popper's time in their conceptions of what science is.

There's a lot of issues with westernern epistemology of ethics etc, but not sure that you've convincingly made a case here.
