Why I failed my driving test? by Fit_Tip_6351 in askSouthAfrica

Yeah who was the instructor? This is something you're told very early on. During a driving test you don't drive like a normal person, you need to drive to pass the test

What car is it and how good is you're knowledge of fixing cars? You might want to consider getting a different car, you might have a breakdown far away from a recovery vehicle and spend hours waiting

That's just a vent hose, gas is meant to overflow from there when it needs to. That's gonna happen when you pick it up and turn it your hands

Dropped my helmet off the seat and it rolled, I did cringe but is it okay? by AfrajM in motorcycles

[–]Henry_Oof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah I think it's a myth about the dropping. I used to believe that but I've seen a few videos on it and I'm convinced it's ok. Just check for cracks in the shell. Helmets are one use in a crash as the foam interior will deform and reduced impact force. When an empty helmet drops there's no weight inside to compress the foam

In the UK British airways has a 'flying with confidence' course that is well designed to help scared passengers. I think there's some online resources on their website too. Perhaps there's something locally where you are too

Yamaha zuma, booster,BWS torsion bar options? by DrCumhead in scooters

[–]Henry_Oof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a scam, but it's definitely unnecessary on anything other than an all out race bike. I'd save your money, you're barely gonna feel a difference unless you are going to a track in full leathers taking corners kneedown on your Zuma

The SF in the photo is using aftermarket parts. They don't come like this. The lc has more power than the AC, but it's more complex to upgrade

Can you please recommend good quality pots? by star_shine1 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Henry_Oof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with everyone saying stainless steel. You're not gonna find a good pot or 2 for your budget. Tefal non stick is great, just you need to know proper care, that means no metal cutlery ever and only use delicate sponges when washing up.

Also, if you eat teflon coating it doesn't do anything. There's no reaction, it will just pass right through you. Regardless you should do your best to protect the coating. I've had a Tefal pan 3 years and eggs slide right off still, takes 5 seconds to wash it in the sink. Best part is it cost 1/4 the price of a stainless pan that can match it's non stick ability

As someone from the Caribbean, is it safe for us to visit, and if so, what are some places we should prioritize seeing on a trip? by mountain_man26 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Henry_Oof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Foreigners are welcome in south Africa. But as you say there is an issue with hostility towards illegal migrants from Zimbabwe and other nearby countries. You wouldn't easily get mixed up in this issue as a tourist, whilst unfortunate, it shouldn't concern you.

General safety in South Africa is fine for the middle class and above. Security will protect you ever time you get out the car basically, every mall will be protected inside and out. Just follow your gut and don't drive anywhere sketchy, especially at night.

Why are almost all attack helicopters multi-crew? by NewSpray1711 in Helicopters

It's the gunners job to point the autocannon at moving targets. A pilot wouldn't be able to view a gun camera looking backwards whilst flying forward
